Hello everyone. new to the forum but i have been with sto since the BETA battle days.... long days. anyways, right now i have an inspiron 6000 that basically has poor cpu and poor intergrated graphics card. so i went out to put another system together from dell. here are the specs: just need to know if this will do the job? meaning i can actually see the lights on my ship beacuse it looks like a ghost ship traveling through space (wish i knew how to post a pic for you out there).

Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English

This system is within the minimum system requirements and meets the recommended so you should be fine.
Edit: Keep in mind you will not be able to run at full specs.
Really, the only weakness in the system you have built out is the video card which is a ATI Radeon HD 5450 which MIGHT get you about an average of 25 to 30 FPS at 1024x768 during gameplay. And I'm not even remotely sure how it would fair during a massive fleet battle but I can imagine it would not be good.
After going to Dell's website and looking at the options you have I'd say go with this one:
AMD Phenom II X6 1035T + ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB $829.99
versus
AMD Phenom II X6 1035T + ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB -$80.00
Edit: I just noticed that I referenced the wrong package sorry 'bout that!
The ATI Radeon HD 5770 should be able to give you the muscle you need not only for STO but any other game you decide to throw at it. In fact, as luck would have it, Tom's Hardware happened to have included the HD 5770 in their benchmark review of STO here at http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/star-trek-online,2553-6.html.
As you can see it runs with a HD 5770 pretty well and at a pretty decent resolution. While it may be an extra $130 above what you were targeting the investment in the long-term will be very much worth it.
Good thing my card wont be intergrated. meaning i could just get the hd 5770 in the future and just swap cards out. thank you both for the input. For now its allot better than what my laptop has now which is intergrated and built like 6 years ago lol.
