Rubber Band (Spring Back)

Run a trace route:

* Click on Start
* Click on Run, or if using Windows Vista just skip to the next step
* Type cmd into the dialog box and press Enter.
* In the window that opens type "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
* Check the speed listed on the return

If you see any hops over 180ms, this could be the cause of the rubber banding.

The Nettest tool checks that the ports required for patching and playing Star Trek Online are not blocked or filtered. Good values returned from the Nettest tool look like:

Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.

Ok thats nice and all that you told us how to find that but how do we fix it

on the cmd "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
im getting around 200 on three diff runs with the same ip

and with the nettest
Column 1 and 3 i don't go over 170 kb/sec
and Column 2 i don't go over 9 kb/sec

so what do i do to fix this do i need to open ports on my router or what

    The nettest results do show signs of filtered or blocked ports. The values should be around 500kb/sec for column 1&3, and for column 2 around 20kb/sec. Forwarding ports on your router would be a good step to try, and for steps to do this check the website of the Company who makes the router. If forwarding the ports does not work then this might be on the ISP's end, and you would need to contact them for additional assistance. You can also try the proxy setting in the launcher to see if they help for your situation.
