Is fedball a forgotten art now? Is the latest craze to full impulse away from your teammates (and the healer)?
The game starts off with three ships fedballing, one not in team, the other running off into the cracked planet at full impulse.
The Klingons decloak of course, we manage to fight them off. Then another ship full impulses away after a suspiciously uncloaked ship, the rest follow him. While my lumbering Star Cruiser(specced up for healing) is trying to turn round and go after them, guess what? The Klingons decloak and, after healing like crazy, I die.
Klingon cloaking isn't overpowered, it's Fed brains that are underpowered.
It is not just players that play the Federation side that do stupid things.
Last night I was in a Captain level FvK Cracked Planet match which we lost badly. This was due to one player in particular who would respawn then uncloaked would full impulse into the fedball. Teamwork was nonexistant, even after someone called a target, we enaged three different ships.
Oh, well, sometimes you have fights like this.
Except the next one was just as bad. The Klingons even outnumbered the Federation by 5 to 4. But guess what the Federation won. There was no waiting for the team to regroup, Klingon players just opened fire on whatever target they felt like. And of course fell to the focus fire of the more organised Federation players.
Oh, well, sometimes you have days like this.
Then there were no Federation players in the queues. Too busy changing their pants afer wetting themselves laughing was my guess.
I strongly believe it's players deliberately trying to throw the game.
Like it or not, Pvp matches take much longer to finish now if both sides are focused on doing their best. For some people, all they care about are the 5 Marks of Honor for their daily. The quicker they rush to their death, the sooner the match ends and they get their Marks.
And to prove that point, not long ago, I was in a Capture and Hold where the other team managed to secure 4 points. Then 5 out of 8 in my team decided to just stay near the respawn point and let the team points count down.

I think this is more of a problem in Capture and Hold type matches than arena matches. The fact of the matter is with 2 full teams of relatively equivalent skill playing CnH a single match can drag on for upwards of a couple of hours. I don't know many people that want to sit in Salvage Op for that long. Especially if one needs 3 to finish a daily.

The cap and holds really can drag out. As a klink I grab the first 2 flags, unless someone really want to engage me an perish.
Then I engage the fed ball as hard as I can.... 90% of the time there timer runs out, it seems they just keep running to the ball when they respawn.
The other 10% of the time the game really does DRAgggg out. They can be fun, just exhasting when I have and hour or two to play and one game takes 30min.
Lately when I do play I have been enjoying tackling. I'll pair up with a fellow klingon and go after the lone sheep that's full impulsed out of the herd.
Its kinda fun to intercept a Full impulse FED with Photonic Shockwave or Tractor as I decloak on him and let my wingman have a stunned open target that has little to no shields up and cant react in time to save his TRIBBLE.
Please, FEDDY BEARS and Captain Kirks don't listen to these experienced players, keep flying out solo like the God of Space Combat you are at Full Impulse with guns blazing Fed Ball ??? you don't need that your a big boy now at RA 5.
Don't heal your escorts, those slackers ... save your healing for yourself.
Like I heard a Feddy yell to another Fed in Zone chat in a PvP match. "Healz?, WTF should I heal you? If you need healz PACK YOUR OWN ! ! !
You tell those lazy DPSers in those fragile powerhouses called escorts to build for healz like a proper DPS ship should or better yet just fly a cruiser like every other Cpt. Kirk.
If you do have a LOL healer guy in the match never cover or stick by him, if a few klinks Repulse him out of range of your Fed ball he can heal himself no worries .
No need to talk to the sci guy and find out what he is packing so you could make a plan use it at the best time. Your Cpt. Kirk you'll win just because its Canon.
Oh and never ever team up I mean come on why would you need to? /sarc off

The heals and the escorts really bother me. However, I just left an FvF cap and hold match where I was absolutely impressed with the escorts. It's a shame I didn't get a screenie because I'd like to add those escorts to my buddy list for future PvPing.
Normally when I'm pugging a Cap and Hold match I'll try to heal others as often as possible. When in a cruiser I tend to take the (general) view that if my heals aren't on cooldown, they're being wasted. Unless I'm on voice comms I tend to expect that I'll come flying to someone's rescue and they'll either run away or continue plinking away at random targets.
Today, however, there were 2 escorts that blew my mind. Not only were they mindful of staying in my healing range, but if our opponents started switching their fire to me, those 2 escorts would then switch to the people attacking me, take them out, and then continue shooting at whoever they were trying to kill. It was absolutely beautiful. I think I got 750k healing in that match and maybe healed myself once or twice and didn't die once. I think each of those escorts got taken out once. We each had 20-30 kills.
So, to you escorts who were repaying the healing in that CnH map by covering Soruh's backside, you were awesome.
Oh, and this was without even having teamed up.
Neat little anecdote, but it has a point. Cruisers, protect your escorts in PvP. They're like cheetahs. Fast, powerful and have a wicked set of teeth, but they can't take much of a beating. Escorts, protect your cruisers, too. Big momma can help out a lot, but not if she's dead. Science ships, sorry...nobody likes you.
Pugs are like casual sex, sometimes it's great, sometimes not so much. Only the good ones make it into the little black book. Hehe you shoulda added those escorts.
Anyway, I was hoping the reverse psychology and snarky tone would imprint on the few Feds that read the forums.
The only reason I went and still favor the Klingon side of the game was the lack of teamwork on the Fed side.
Sometimes I wonder though that the population of the Fed side is partly to blame. On the Klingon side after a week or so of PvP leveling / Badge grinding you take down names and add them to your friends lists, you know who will heal and who won't, who DPS's, and who are the Sci guys. The number of regular players on the Klink side at any given time is small, and you get to know how people fly without even being in a fleet together.
On the Fed side well, I never found this to be the case and with the population of the fed side being as it is I am not sure if you can get that hometown advantage the Klingon side can via playing together so much.
Best advice I got is join a PvP Fleet after you get your chops busted up enough solo via Pugs.
One thing that amazes me over and over again. I'm on my Klingon Cruiser and have 3 or 4 Feds beating on me. If there happens to be an escort among them, I naturally target it first since it can do the most damage to me., and normally I am able to actually take it out because the Fed cruisers don't bother to heal.
That's not a single experience, but I see it on a daily basis. Feds don't heal, or don't they know how?

Well, it could be that the cruiser or sci ship is designed more for self-healing and damage vs a support build, so they're not in the habit of team healing as much. Or situational awareness and team coordination/communication issues.

Often it is because the escort player moves out of range whilst they're whizzing around. Escorts are the primary target for cruiser anyway. It is funny to see them bounce of my plated hull causeing minimal damage and then get insta popped
Here's an example of how important healing can be for a battle (especially now).
I was teamed up with two skilled pugs (one a cruiser, another an escort) vs two cruisers and two escorts. Looking at the picture, our damage is nothing shocking when compared to the otherside.
The only difference is, we healed and ES'd (I personally used ET2, ET3, HE2, Aux2SIF2 and ES3) like crazy. In that whole battle, our escort died once. Reflecting on it though, I do wonder if I should have stopped being paranoid about focused escort fire and put power to weapons instead of shields.

I am starting to see a gradual improvement in the quality of Fed PUGs lately, which is great. I occasionally even get healed by someone else these days and less games are flat out massacres

Instead having people who WANT to PvP in the arenas now, we have people that want the "points" as quickly as possible. BAD MOVE CRYPTIC.
LOl- I felt fairly stupid after my first foray in LTCdr cruiser pvp. Against +4-5 Klinks, I popped like corn.
I still had fun though, just need a bigger gun and better shields.

Man though, do I want Aux2SIF3.
Extend shields is almost useless doubling it up now. the general timer on it is practically the same as the normal skill cooldown. You might as just have Extend shield 3 and be done with it.

Yeah, I switched out my ES3 for Aux to SIF III as part of my 1.2 build, and then use TSS I and Extend I for shield healing. That combination seems to work quite well. I'd say the Commander slot is best used for AUX to SIF III though vs Extend III.

In the off-hours when I PUG and am not flying with fleetmates this is an all-too-often seen occurrence. The more you PUG, the more you see it. Some people never learn...
I do much prefer a few fleet mates grouping or atleast working with people i know for pvp. But I would like to point out the "avg" chaotic or what not pug still can offer experience.
Find the limits under often some pretty unfavorable conditions...(also often find those limits very quickly tho lol)
This has helped my personal skills imo during premade or atleast small group with in a pug rounds. Helps with the oh ...TRIBBLE factor when not if but when you get focused or otherwise in it deep, letting you eventually handle things much calmer and clearl, possibly till help can bail you out.
I wont start reaching too far to defend the erratic pugs but you can find other benifits i'm sure.
In the end death itself is much needed to pave the way to somewhat decent at least or beyond pvp skills. Understanding something for all but the rare wicked captains out there is way more useful after seeing and experiencing rather then just reading and listening just to posts here.
The Feds were of a better quality today I wonder how many premades were out and about. I know that in 1 4v5 match I confirmed it was a premade. When i got my PvP daily and it was arena I had to laugh. 25 to 30 feds in the C&H maps and all 15 to 20 Klingons in the arena maps. I wonder how many others get the same daily. Even the Random Dailys seem to act to imbalance PvP.
To Funny.
GG to all the Feds out there today nice change of pace. Keep up the good work!
