More launcher issues

After browsing through alot of the threads here i find myself having to make make one also after not being able to find a solution on the others.

Quite simply the launcher for the game will not start. I bought a retail copy of the game and followed the instructions that it gave me. It seemed like it all installed fine. When i double click the shortcut i get a little box telling me the Cryptic Launcher Autoupdater is trying to update and please be patient. No problems there but after a few hours of this it bothered me so i closed the box and started again. This time i ran it as the admin. Same thing except after a few minutes i get another box telling me that the webpage cannot be shown.

So after looking through the threads somemore i came across the nettest, i ran it and found that the ports in the range of 7000-7500 are timed out, there is a block somewhere i assume. But as i am very new to windows 7 i have no idea what to do to unblock these ports. My system is new and more than capable of running the game but this doesn't help if i can't get on.

I use Windows 7, BT home hub 2.0 and i am wireless.

If anyone can reply to this thread with advise on how to fix this it would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Generally this means something unhappy with your IE installation. The easiest things to try and checking that Work Offline isn't turned on and then try clearing your temporary internet files.

I have tried what you suggested but i am still not getting anywhere, the Cryptic Launcher Autoupdater is trying to connect as i write this but to no availe so far. Still curious about the ports range 7000-7500 being timed out. I thought that this is where the problem was as in one of the other threads that i read it says that the ports in this range are where the patches and such are accessed from. But as i said in the original post is that i have no idea on how to unblock them. My IE is fine and i have deleted all the history.

So as i asked before, if anyone could let me know on how to unblock the ports 7000-7500 i would be very thankful.

The best way to do this is go to the website of your routers manufacture and they typically have walk through on their support page. The reason we do not provide a walk though here is that would require us to know and write on all avaliable models. Unfortunately we don't have the time or resources to do so.

Ah i see, thanks for letting me know that. I will have a look at their website and see what i come up with. Is it possible that this is the problem though, the timed out ports?

If the ports are timing out on the nettest this most likely means that the communication through that port range is being blocked or filtered. If this is the case then yes one of the appropriate steps is to forward these ports for STO traffic. Now if you continue to have issues with ports timing out then this could be at the ISP level and you would have to call them for additional assistance.

Its seems that i have finally fixed the problem and can now get on to the login screen only to run into another problem, once i put in the account name and password all i get is a message in the bottom left saying "Unable to Authenticate". Are the account servers down or something?

Nope the servers are all up and running. I looked at your account and you should be up and running. Have you tried again since you got the error?

Tried it again today but now im back to not being able to get past the Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate thing again. Only other thing i can think of is its my wireless connection might not being strong enough although it tells me the signal is fine.

I have been trying all day today 6/11 and it just keeps saying "trying to update the launcher, please be patient" my count was 17 attempts. Not sure what the issue is. I think I will have to put in a ticket.

Submitting a ticket should be the first step. We have no way to really know you have a problem until you do. Plus hitting up the tech support can only increase your chances of getting the answer you need.
