Known Client Crash Issue on Holodeck

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Hi everyone!

We've identified a problem on Holodeck which will cause your client to crash. Currently, shoudl you open the team settings window while members of your team are on a different map, or are not near you, you may experience a client crash. In order to prevent this crash, please avoid opening the "Team Settings" window while your team is not grouped up near your current location.

We are currently aware of this issue, and are working towards getting a patch to Holodeck which will resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Stormshade

My client just crashes regularly. I play for about twenty minutes, then I hear a crackle in my speakers. Shortly thereafter, I get a server not responding error. For awhile it would be okay then throw me off, now it just throws me off the server and hoses my internet connection. I have to restart. I've tried the proxies, force verify, I've run diagnostics, I have no issues with any other game. This is an sli machine with a core i7 processor 6 gigs of ram.

Iv'e disable my raid array and I've turned off many of the useless windows services. The machine runs faster now. I've disabled windows defender and it still happens. I've play with a router and without, same result.

The game ran fine when it first came out. I could do stf's but recently it starting crashing regularly...

Honestly, this almost sounds like you are experiencing an EMI issue. Do you have onboard sound and LAN? The possible causes are too many to attempt diagnosis remotely, but you may want to take your machine in to a high end computer shop with the proper equipment to test for internal EMI. I may be entirely off base, but if it occurs at a regular interval and is accompanied by "crackling" in your speakers, there may be a pulse hitting the area of your sound/LAN hardware causing the glitching of your connection

I'm using my sound card not on board sound. Also, I have no similar issues with other games or even steam. Never had a problem with steam. Finally, I'm using a power conditioner which is supposed to filter out potential EMI. ;)

Looks like server lag was whackin' my client. I tried Run as Administrator and that seemed to do the trick. I got the same crackling in my speakers and a "server not responding" message but I didn't get kicked off the server this time. I experience MAJOR LAG, but the game came back and I was able to finish the mission even though I was interupted about five times by lag. I can live with that. Even in Guild Wars we experienced lag. The only difference was running as admin kept me from getting booted and hosing my internet connection. Sweet! :D
