What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Not responding

Hey, I got a guestpass from a friend yesterday, and I was really looking forward to trying this, since I'm getting pretty sick of WoW, and Star Trek looks really appealing!

Anyway, I downloaded the torrent, installed it and patched.

When I pressed "Engage" ithe screen got black (like it does when a game starts) and then just minimized into a small window that stayed black for hours. In task management it said that it was not responding - i reinstalled it, patched it again, and same problem. I know the servers are down, but I should still be able to run the game?

I have a new decent laptop with Windows 7 x64...

Please help?

Sincerely
Pingu

if you tried this within the past hour or so then you will find STO is undergoing maintenance as advised by the servers down and the message above the logon , im surprised the engage button works

ah ok, do you run a software firewall which has settings for each application you run on your pc and may require internet access?
if you run a software firewall after installing or patching STO you need to makesure the gameclient.exe is a llowed to be created\accessed and can access the interenet

Yeah, I thought that might have been it first too, so I added the exception for gameclient.exe and all cryptic games applications that had to run, but still nothing, even turned the firewall off - nothing.

Anyway, that SHOULDN'T have anything to do with a program getting the message "Not Repsonding"..

Can it be anything with the torrent? I'll try to download a new client the good ol' fashioned way and see.

I also play STO on a laptop.

Can you post the specs on your laptop? CPU, RAM, Graphic Card? Maybe we can help you figure out the problem.

It's an HP Pavillion dv6 Notebook
AMD Turion II Ultra Dual-Core Mobile M520 2,50 GHz CPU
    6GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD4650

    As I said, it's with Windows 7 x64...

EDIT: It shouldn't really have any trouble running the game, like, at all! =s

This may very well be your problem right there.

Many people have reported problems with ATI video cards. Particularly with Dynamic Lighting and Antialasing. Try turning those off and see if it helps.

And definitely post a netest. Perhaps Implausible can help you.
