Hi there, I just bought a used Silver Edition of STO. I wanted to activate it, but the key was already used in use. So far so good, online I purchased a 60-days-license, activated it and received the confirmation email, that everything worked out. But now still i cannot login. Does anybody know a solution?
Big regards and Thanks for answers! Martin

You need both the retail key from the game box and the subscription. You cannot purchase a used copy of an MMO generally speaking. Sounds like you have been scammed and you need to go talk to whoever sold you this copy.

Are you saying that you bought a used copy of the game as in you bought it from EBAY or a friend? Or did you buy something new, open the box and enter the key to find out that it had already been used? If so you need to submit a ticket to billing and account support.

Read carefully what he said. He bought a used copy, try to activate it, and came back that it was already in use. If you got this from a friend, wow... You may have to buy a good copy and activate the key that came with it. Another thing, when you bought it, did they send you the account info that goes with it? You may have the account name and password and don't know it. Do some digging and I hope you where not dupe. The accounts office may be able to trace the key to its owner and they can investigate; it is worth a shot. Sorry dude.

    this is kinda sad.

he may not have gotten it from eBay or a friend used.
there are some used cd places i know of around me the sell used dvd/blu rays console games ect. now most don't buy and sell used software. but there are a few that do. and as far as they are concerned the purchaser assume the risk if the key cannot be used again. perhaps the op got the game through one of these retailers.

which is why it always a good rule of thumb to never never buy used software. it not like buying a used ps3 or xbox game.
Even that might not be for long either forgot if its sony or microsoft that exploring a way to tie a game to a specific console when its played for the first time and the disc can never be used on another console supposedly.

Well all console publishers are gearing up to support "project $10" - where games have significant functionality tied to an unlock code that's free in new copies, but pre-owned buyers are charged $10 for.
