Capture and hold maps FvK explained.

A simple guide to the fed players so they can understand how to win at the capture and hold maps instead of constantly lose.

Your primary capture and hold Flags are A B and SB. Why is that? The D flag is too far out to maintain and too close to the Klingon base. 99 percent of the the time the feds will lose because they run to flag D. other wise known as the Sensor Array or Gas Cloud.

STOP. When you enter the game group up and break left and forget the cloud let the klinks have it. Take flags A B and SB and stay in that triangle.

You say OMG what about kills? Trust me...the kills will come to you as the klinks will be there soon enough. Resist the temptation to run head long into the cloud because if you do...they will have a ship go to each flag and flip them while you are being distracted.

The interesting thing about this is it works for groups that are not in the same vent.

You might say OMG that is a fed ball! Who cares. No one cries when the Klinks do it so why should you care?

So in closing...if the feds want to keep losing these maps, please by all means run to the cloud. It will keep happening over and over.

In the event you can not hold the Star base Flag you should try and hold A B and C flags. You only need to hold 3 flags to win. Some players have this idea you need to hold all the flags. WRONG.

There you go. This tactic might work for FvF but I have not tried it out...

OR... Fly straight into the cloud

Yell as loudly as you can into your vent "It's a trap!"

Wait for the Klingons to fire en mass

Say "Our shield's can't repel firepower of that magnitude."

    Respawn
Rinse with Mt Dew as necessary
    Repeat.

(Diagram is a nice touch by the way.)

The data I have collected indicates that the OP is incorrect in his assertion that tactics is the most important thing in deciding who wins a PvP match.

On both sides, players just need to work better whether they use vent or not. Sometimes players will just be in PvP just to get the badges and complete dailys and not do anything. That gets annoying.

I agree Klingons win more often. Either way, both sides just need to work together better and try to have at least each kind of class in a group or at least groups that will work well together to capture and counter attacks.

I wholeheartedly agree with the OP.

Nebula zergging is for people wanting to win the special olympics award.

If you camp the cap site on the eastern side of the map the enemy will automatically come to you.
I hope more people come to read this thread.

But... but... the cloud is just directly straight ahead?!

So thanks for the tip. I was always wondering if I was missing something about the capture and hold maps. Seems I was. Serves me right for never having premades and no PvP fleet to educate me...

well you could send 2 cruisers to the cloud to keep the klingons fighting there infinitely long while you take all the points and then join up to the cruisers

Depending on how many feds are in play vs the klinks....I have found a sure fire way to stuff em on these maps everytime (if the feds will adhere to simple rules of play). Ever see a klingon cry?

    How you ask?...............

    Fleet secret...........

But the OP does have a valid attack and hold stratagy. I might have to integrate that into mine just for added gusto. After all no one battle is the same, and ones plan must evolve to meet all contingents.

"Cunning is the warrior who has seen the battle unfold hours before his enemy has taken the field of battle."
"Klingons fight with heart and unswerving nerve. It's too bad really, they are very predictable."

I don't understand, and maybe it's just a lack of knowledge on their part.. Just flying through the objectes to turn them white doesn't affect the scoring.

If they think they are being sneaky, like where's waldo.. Um.. he's the red arrow thing on my radar trying to flip an objective :)

You also realize that Federation players are often also very predictable in PuGs, right? :(

There's been so many times at the start of a CnH where I immediately head for the 3 cap site, and someone else begins full impulsing towards the Nebula at the same time.

I usually don't win that "popularity" contest.

Often times I end up finding myself sitting at Refinery/Astro Geo alone, looking ahead as 2 of the 3 caps on my side are turned into the enemy colour while I stare at my incomplete cap. *sobs*

The worst is despite the zergging, you still see Nebula team get wiped out horrendously. T_T

lol i had some of these groups on fed side... sometimes its just sad. some people should avoid pvp. the more surprising thing is that you have more and more of these people playing RA´s on Klingon side, probably farmed up all the way through nebula farming :( (probably thinking they would do better playing OP klingon ships:D)

sounds a lot like the Ker'rat system where Federation players spawn camp while 2 of them go and scan/destroy nodes. hmmm guess it's ok if you play blue side though huh?
