Alternate launcher software?

Is there any alternate way to launch the game? The common launcher uses IE which in my case is blocked by a proxy that I have no control over. I am restricted to Chrome as a browser. Is there any other way?

unforunately not. You have to use the launcher. What the launcher uses is MSHTML . The only way to fix problems with MSHTML is by IE. Or reinstalling the OS.
The game including the launhcer uses prots 7000-7500 and these ports must be open.
The patching is done on port 7255
Auth server connextion I believe is port 7004
download and run nettest to see if there may be a port blocking problem (it checks a sample of the ports)

    Nettest:
    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically

For good connections, column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate).

I believe the game other than the external proxy cyrptic has setup in the launcher does not play well with proxies.

If port blocking is not your problem (read above post), I imagine you'd need to get the args that the launcher passes to GameClient.exe.

If you just run it without the launcher it won't know what server to talk to. So I imagine you just need to know the args and could manually pass them.

Anyone ever tried this? This is all off the top of my head here =)

I do imagine you'd be SOL for patching, though.

No, I guess I'm SOL. Our proxy directs any html traffic through the proxy so the launcher just chokes and I get the IE page error in the launchers window frame.

The launcher UI should probably respect the IE proxy settings, so if you setup the needed proxy info there that part should work. That won't proxy our own communication though, so if you need a proxy for non-HTTP traffic too you will still be out of luck.
