Demo - server not responding

For some reason I cant open a ticket. I get to open a ticket, 'tech', 'connection' and it wont open me a ticket, so I'll ask here.

Hi there
I have downloaded the demo from steam, made myself a valid username, patched the game (seems to the max), made my charachter, ship's name, and when i wanna play iI either see spock's introduction to the star trek reality, and then seeing 'server not responding', or the game gets stuck at the begining showing the female capt loading screen, and also says, server not responding, (client says server is on (green light).

I have zonealarm, and even told it "game mode: allow everything" and even then the server seems to not respond. any idea?

Win is: XP

the game is tow parts that need zone alram ro allow. the Stratrekonline, eve and the gameclient.exe.

Also the game uses ports 7000-7500 and everytime you zone to a different map server you get a random port selection in that range so all ports need to be open.

run netest to do a check of a sample of the game ports.

    Nettest:
    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically

For good connections, column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate).

    also do a tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com
    and post both results

Also depending on your graphics card you may have to set the world and character detail to 50%
(posting a dxgaig report would help isolate the problem aera)

thank you PegasusMD for all the help.

It seems the answer was easier. Ive opened a ticket with Cryptic and they told me, at Launcher, to go to options and chose either EU or US proxies. That did the work.

Hoping this would help others who'd encounter the same problem.
