how do I turn off my video card?

So, when I first started playing, I think my computer was NOT using my video card. I recently got a new hard drive and I installed the drivers and now STO is most certainly using them. The problem is, it keeps crashing on me constantly. I use 2 monitors so I can't just remove the video card

Is there a way for me to get STO to NOT use my video card. when it was working it was still plugged in to the video card along wth my other monitor, but I dont think it was actually using the graphics card. the resolution was bad. Now the resolution is good, but constant slow down and crashing occurs.

Also, when I downloaded my drives for the old configuration there was a specific option for the ATI radeon 3850

now there is only an option for the whole series ATI radeon 3xxx, I don't know if that is the problem.

Thanks!

but to play games or even use your pc you must use a graphics card weather its onboard or on a seperate card everything displayed by your PC is generted by your graphics card or onboard chip

if your trying to say you have 2 graphics cards maybe one onboard you can disable these in Device manager, expand display adapters and right click and select disable on the one you think is causing problems

with 2 monitors you can decide which is the primary (main) display and even disable dual monitors in catalyst controll center -display properties, think this may be what your looking for

this sound like you had half resolution selected in game vidio options

iirc all ATI drivers in the past for the 3850 (or any other series) graphics card were compatable with all 3000 (3xxx) series graphics cards so long as you chose the correct type AGP\PCI and correct OS

You're trying to play this game and run two monitors at the same time using a 3850 and you're getting slow downs.. Is this clicking for anyone else? My money's on your settings are too high and that card simply can't keep up, try lowering your settings and/or resolution, even consider unplugging the second monitor for when you want to play STO - or even just temporary as a test to see if things improve.

Well the main problem is that IT WAS WORKING FINE until I got a new hard drive. I am trying to get it back to how it was. The game settings are the same as they were but now the game is slowing down.
