Sick of Borg Content

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Am I the only one that is sick of the hearing or watching anything about the Borg. Never liked watching the Borg content on any of the TV series. I guess that is way I liked DS9 so much, I believe they only showed up in the DS9 series twice in "The Emissary parts 1 & 2".

I believe the reason way I hate the Borg is because with every other lifeform out there you could still have a conversation and or diplomacy with them and the Borg only now how to say and do one thing "we are the borg you will be assimilated resistance is futile" which reminds of the bully on the playfield when I was a kid a moron but strong.

Well let me get to a point in this thread. If content is being added could you please add content besides Borg. Something more to do with any of the other lifeforms (besides the Borg) would me nice.

I hear whispers that Iconians are behind the whole Reman/Hobus incident. Only time will tell. :)

While I don't agree with your stance on the Borg, I do agree that dealings with other races would be nice, but I don't care either way as long as new content is added.

Wasn't that just player speculation/wishful thinking? Unless something was hinted by Cryptic about it.

You mean, like the Terradome STF? :)

Like as not, the Borg adds will be "done" with the upcoming Into the Hive STF (if I blew the name, sorry-brain's barely working this morning). With luck, we'll see more stuff featuring the very wide range of alien races out there; after all, even though the Borg were the "apex predator" in the Star Trek setting (well, except for Q, but that's another story), Starfleet had plenty of other problems like the Klingons, the Romulans, the Cardassians, the Dominion, and so forth. I wouldn't mind seeing a resurgence of the Xindi, actually; they'd be ripe for exploration here-what happened to them since ENT wrapped up?

Highlight text below to reveal spoiler:
In State of Q, Q Junior speaks of the "Demons of Air and Darkness" making the rift in time that lets the future-Borg board the Saratoga to prevent Sisko from surviving. "Demons of Air and Darkness" is an epithet applied to the Iconians in legend, according to the historical overview of them presented in the TNG episode "Contagion", and appears nowhere else in the various series.
Though there is another theory floated on the boards that the "Demons of Air and Darkness" actually refers to a species that hijacked the Iconian's gateway network to ill ends, essentially framing them, possibly the Vod'ware or however that's spelled from Voyager. This is in line with a theory floated in "Contagion" that the Iconians weren't actually evil *******s, just misunderstood.

I... would. I very much would. Weren't they supposedly absorbed into the Federation according to one throwaway line or another?

    Thanks squidheadjax

As for the Xindi I wouldn't mind seeing them again. I think the timeline where they were part of the Federation was further into the future, I could be mistaken though. In any case if they wanted to go with the Xindi I think it would do best as a separate faction and not part of another faction.

Every time you see the borg, the universe becomes a little smaller.

I'm with ya completely. The Borg were even more over-used than time travel was in Star Trek. It was almost as though when the writers couldn't come up with a good plot for an episode they ran to either the Borg or time travel. I hope we really are done with the Borg in STO.

I guess it depends on what series you watched. The Borg only made 6 appearances in TNG in 7 years and once in First Contact. The only made 1 appearance in DS9 and Enterprise. They had 22 appearances in the 7 seasons of Voyager, but Voyager was set in the Borg's home Delta Quadrant.
