I'm halfway into my Lt. Commander missions and am loving the updated "Enterprise" look of my ship--I was curious what the next level will bring--and man are they bulky. I can understand giving one T3 cruiser with 4 engines, but all of them? They look like chunky insects.
The science and assault ships in T3 also look funky--more like designs from some other SciFi Channel Universe. It's funny, on the front page of the website, Cryptic markets the traditional starship with a round dish, two nacelles, and the round cigar-shaped hull and glowing deflector because they know that's what appeals to people who wanna fly their own Star Trek Starships.
Maybe I'm out in left field, but there should be atleast one T3 Enterpise-like ship to choose from.

The Ships in each tier use the same geometry. So all 3 cruisers have to use the 4 nacelle look. All 3 science ships have to use the golfball look.
It's the difference between a skin and a ship. The variations you find are skins. But for you to be able to mix and match various parts, the skin has to conform to the basic geometry.
Also, the Olympic class for the science ship was in the TNG episode All Good Things. The Cheyenne in cruisers was in Best of Both Worlds. And the Akira in Escorts was in First Contact. All ships from actual episodes. Not syfy original movies.

I appreciate the references to the shows where the Olympic, Cheyenne, and Akira appear--didn't mean to offend. Though, I think most of the ships you see through out the Star Trek episodes have two engines: TNG163 "Yesterday's Enterprise", VOY201 "Timeless", and the majority of the ships in the Starfleet Armada of DS9 575/576 "What you leave behind".
Also, I'm not sure I buy the idea that the number of slots is coupled with the rendering of a ship--for that matter a T3 ship could look just like a T2 ship and simply have more places to put consoles--after all, in the original series Scotty hotwired a Romulan Cloaking device in 10 minutes, and the globe aliens from another galaxy retro-fited a bookcase engine room.
In fact, when I redeemed by TOS Enterprise as an Ensign I actually got an extra slot which didn't come with the standard Miranda/Centaur choices.
As much as I enjoyed Event Horizon the tier 3 science ship and its variants still look more like alien ships than starfleet.
Saying that, this could easily be solved if the allowed for "refits" that allowed us to use a lower tier ship for an extra tier (+1 only).
Would also like to point out the dadelus (a pre TOS ship) had a similar design to the T3 science vessels so pretty much in keeping with federation ship designs

I love them. Out of all my ships my T3 cruiser holds sentimental value to me. It was the ship I had the best expierence with.

keep in mind that the majority of the Federation are aliens not humans.
