Steam: STO Trial?!

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I downloaded the Star Trek Online trial cause I tried then World of Warcraft one and didn't like that much, but when I attempt to start it, it asks from Account Name and Password. So I put in my desired details only to find I needed to register first. So I registered and attempted to login again and I get "Account error, please contact Billing Support" but that doesn't make sense as I shouldn't have to be billed to play the trial. Please help i really want to check this game out.

When you first ran the demo, it should have opened the registration page: http://startrekonline.com/user/free_demo_start/steam

    Hiya All,

Since there is relatively NO information ( sorry Cryptic ) regarding how too get started i thought i would post how i done it.

Step 1 - Download the demo via either

    A.) http://installers.crypticstudios.com..._Installer.exe

    B.) http://files.atari.com/installers/ST..._Installer.exe

    C.) http://installers.crypticstudios.com...316a.1.torrent

Step 2 - Create an account via here:

    A.) http://www.startrekonline.com/user/register

Once everything has finished downloading, Install Star Trek: Online, and run the game. Now, some of you may experience a similar issue too me in which it simply says " Account Error " and " Server Down ", It took some googling but i found the answer too this, all you have too do is be logged into your account via the website and then click:

    http://www.startrekonline.com/user/f..._start/Cryptic

This should then display " Your Account has been created/Setup, Thank you for creating a Demo account! "

Thats it, you should be done! - Hope this guide helps!

    Regards,

    From the http://startrekonline.com/user/free_demo_start/steam -page:
    Greetings!

We are working on some sweeping changes to the way the Demo Program and Demo Accounts function in Star Trek Online. While these changes are underway, we have turned off the Star Trek Online Demo and suspended the trial program. This means that players who are not currently subscribed to Star Trek Online will not be able to access the game.

Please keep an eye on the homepage for announcements regarding these changes and to find out how interested players will be able to try Star Trek Online again without a retail key or subscription.

    Thanks!
