Please Do More Random Events

Are we going to see any more random events like we had at the end of closed beta?

I'd love to just get a warning in the chat window that starbase 01 is under attack from the borg, or K7 is under attack by klingons. sierra outpost under attack by romulans etc.

Or just have some strange random thing, similar to V'ger or crystalline entity just turn up in a sector.

Give people an hours warning, then 10 minutes warning to let them get themselves to where the action is about to happen, then have that instance turn into a warzone or fleet action for an hour, (some in space and some on the ground.)

keep the location random and whether is space or ground a surprise until it happens and do it every couple of weeks at different times of the day.

I agree. STO should have a monthly, or at the very least bi-monthly, zone event where large groups of people can come together - and it wouldn't break my heart if those events actually had some type of impact on the game rather then just being another random encounter. :)

Runescape has some nice diverting random events that occurr such as random abductions and strange fun little events and minigames.

Perhaps STO could have random abductions by Q giving the player a brief task? :)

I'm not against this at all, but the end of beta event was such a terrible TRIBBLE-up they ought to learn from it and never repeat it.
The first part was a monstrous time for the Kilingons, being spawn camped and laughed at ( but how they got their own back in pvp during launch ) and the borg invasion was just stupid. A persistent zergfest of fast spawning Borg for 4 hours or so with absolutely no focus to it or reason to play it.

There were some nice screenshots to be had though :)

but it did highlight a problem where too many objects on screen meant that even close range enemies were not rendering even on a high end SLi system.

We really do need this. The end of closed beta one with the Borg attacking was simply amazing! I had so much fine dying over and over again at the beam in point. Come on Cryptic lets do this again, please.

i was only using the end of beta as an example. i would expect any future ones to be more polished and thought out. i expect the end of beta event was still designed as a stress test as much as it was a big event.

id probably keep it just to pve, as if they did feds vs klingon players again the klinks would be totally outnumbered, so give the Klingons their own pve events, have some npc's attack Qo'nos.

I posit something similar in the Socialization Content Proposal in my signature.

Let's have periodic content (just to avoid using the term seasonal or holiday).

Not only that, let's use that periodic content (like plague needing a cure - or First Contact Day) to bring players from all levels to earlier locales.

For example, there's a sector pandemic and Starbase K7 needs Captains to develop (craft) a workable cure before it's too late.

This would get Rear Admirals to Lieutenants into that sector block - working toward a common goal with each other (instead of hanging out in our respective "grind zones" and Sol station.

If that sounds awesome, there's a list of other events in the link in my signature.

Since some of the Devs have been sighted in sector space, I say this is very possible if its not imposing too much on their maintenance. Scheduled events wil make things more interactive and will create a more involving atmosphere for the game.

Do this along with the storyline the game follows, so that it makes some sense, and let it climax to some special mission or STF that is planned beforehand to tie loose ends.

Also it would help if the casual mission were made more variable by randomizing elements like spawn points, mob numbers, position of placeables, objectives orientation in relation to the map, anomaly harvest points and also chance for special or rare spawns and items (not necessarily loot but perhaps items and NPCs that could open a quest line).

I really wish for more attention on the "unknown" and "undefined" element that the Genesis system was supposed to offer. Knowing exactly where to go and what i will encounter makes different color planets and apsce maps boring and mind numbing. Lets spice things up.
