PVP Mission Suggestions

There are a few issues with Pvp in the game as they stand, and I have a few constructive ideas which I believe will greatly benefit the game as a whole.

1) Create a perpetuous Pvp Map. Something that people can enter and leave at will... Completely open. Treat this like Recluses Victory was in City of Heroes. I only mention this game because Cryptic was involved in that one in the past. You can setup a safe zone, mission objectives, global resets of the map, points awarded, etc. Friends are telling me that Star Wars Galaxies had a similar setup for a couple of zones.

What this Solves: Hour long waits to get into a fight. Right now I'm in a pvp queue that has 37 federation and 3 Klingons queueing. I'm on federation right now. However the terrible queue times kill the fun of Klingon gameplay right now. Before the FvF and Azlesa, etc came out for the Klingon side, I levelled almost 90% of my time in pvp. After FvF came out, I couldn't stomach the 30 minute to 60minute (Or more) wait that I had to go through to get into half-played matches. This would make it so you can come in and leave at your leisure, guns blazing... without the nauseating wait. Most pvp'ers don't like to sit on their hands long periods of times, and that's what is hurting pvp right now. This will also ensure that we see a vital interaction of pvp'ers across all stripes, fleets and factions. Which is what we want. MMO's are meant to create interaction.

2) Auto-Team. Without doubt, this is one of my biggest peaves. We're all in a war. Why the hell can't we communicate with the people were fighting with. If I'm jumping into a combat vs. a prepared team, and the rest of our guys are running around like chickens with their heads cut off its not very fun at all. The Simple solution is to have ALL PVP auto-team more or less the people on your side. At the very least give us a local Factional chat system.

What this Solves: Ridiculous advantages of Premade teams. I'm fine with them having advantage, but its too overpowered. Klingons already have a huge advantage in cloak and battle cloak. I say this as a guy who loves playing Klingon and Pvping as a Klingon. However, we have to admit that there are some big advantages to having people running around invisible while our Federation opponents get spawned randomly, all over the place and isolated. Its not fair to them, and really its not fair to us. Challenge is more fun. The best matches I have are when you have a Fed team and a Klingon team working together against one another.

3) Bigger Badder Shields. Fights go really fast, and if someone can pop out of cloak and alpha strike you (multiple opponents at once) You are dead. I'm not suggesting the advantage of cloak be destroyed, I'm suggesting it not be that easy to split someone apart in 3 seconds. I've been on the front and back of this situation and it comes off feeling a little cheap either way.

What this Solves: Non-Epic, Overly rapid battles.

4) Controlling Teams. If a couple of fleets wish to do battle with one another, there should be a system whereby 1 vs 1, or any number, can be built up an set to attack. While I think we all want to see an open pvp system, I think that should be for the Realm Vs. Realm type of an area I suggested in topic 1. If I get 2 guys in my fleet to fire up a Fed Officer and 2 guys on the fleet to fire up their Klingons, It would be nice if we can battle with each other.

What this Solves: Desire to battle and practice each other solved. (Think of this like Team arena in city of heroes).

Hope these ideas help.

I hate bumping my thread like this, but I'm really surprised no one has ideas or suggestions related to this...

    1) You mean like Wintergrasp in WoW? Or Ker'rat in STO? I am all for this idea.

    2) I agree, also need audio chat system, built into the game.

    3) Nope, less DPS is the way to go. Adding more stuff, just results in a never ending stream of pointless buffs.

    4) i Have no opinion on this, I would not use such a feature.

I suppose Kerrat is something akin to what i was thinking in item one. Though perhaps a little larger and more variety would be nice. It is a good map. I'm not really familiar with much of anything about WoW. I prefer robots and laser beams to elves and wizards.

The difference in what i'm envisioning is a battlefield. With some allies for Klingons (NPC ones), allies for Federation (NPC ones), and of course the players of either side. It would add strong and weak points of the map. We do have something like that in the game, but they are not persistent zones. I am fine with the re-flip that you get in the Kerrat map though, just as long as we can get a perpetual map, if we so choose. Even if the odds are against us.

Built in audio chat is nice, but I suspect not everyone will want to use it, or even have the headset to do so. This limitation probably will always exist.

I agree, if we have to wait for an open sector then it would be nice to see some open insances with battlezone objectives.

audio chat would be nice if it can be used with the current chat system. for the people who do use it you can hear them over your speaks and the ones who don't can type. maybe a beep for responds.

I do have an idea for one of these maps or instances. Everyone has played in a enemy signal, right.
What I am suggesting is adding some to the neutral zone, open to both factions. You could turn them in to mission like they are in the other sectors.

When you enter, you must kill 10/10 groups to clear map, right. so let each fraction enter the map freely, as the map restarts 5 min. after the map has been cleared. Just about everything about the signals are the same as they are in the other sectors except each fraction is competing to clear the map. the first fraction to collect the kills win. And you know some good PvP is go to come out of this. as some player are going to want to stop the other fraction by engaging them.

As an reward the fraction that clears the map get credit. the same as it is now( skill point, merit and so on). the loser get nothing but maybe the drop in the map.The winner also gets control of the signal. This is basically the color of the signal on the sector map. Blue for feds, red for the klingons. In these map you will be getting drops the same as in the other sectors, leveled to the signal. That is why I think there needs to be 5 or 6 signals on the sector map, each a different level. We can enter any of them but this way lower tier players can get drops they can use.

I think this is an easy instance to set up .They have everything, all they need is to track the kills to reward the wins and color the signal to the winning fraction.

Maybe it can also be part of our dailies for even more of an reward.
If you have a opinion about this and want to revamp it, go ahead.
