Was doing the Big Dig fleet action a few minutes ago along with 3 or more groups in zone. Most of us had been in there for an hour plus. We were close to being done, the BAM! We were all disconnected! Then after logging back in the mission was reset. All that time wasted. Thats a good way to keep people playing.
So ask you Cryptic, can you do anything right? Every MMO I have played that you make you fail at. If it wasnt for NCsoft taking over CoH/CoV would not had survived. How can you be such a piece of sh*t company and sleep at night?
You charge people money to buy items from the C-Store in your incomplete game. How do you justify that?
You have polls of what should be added next. You talk about adding a new faction, when the Klingon side has very little content. You constantly add stuff for the Fed side, but dont do sh*t for the Klingon side. You want to know what should be added to the game? How about you get the Klingon side up to speed with content, uniforms, ect. then lets think about another faction. You cant even run the game as it is and you talk about another faction.
So far the only thing about the game you did good was space combat, the rest of the game is a joke. The system you used for random maps like you used in CoH sucked, so why you ever thought it would be a good idea to keep using it in MMOs just shows how much of a fly by night company you are. The ground game is sluggish and needs a complete revamp. I am not a fan of revamping a MMO, but most of the game needs some serious work. The exploration is little to none. No world PvP. Just scripted BGs, that are lacking for that matter.
Then throw in the joke you call customer support, or should I say the lack of. You cant even contact players in game with bugged missions and fix thier problem then and there so there time spent on the mission wont be a waste. Instead you send them an auto response hours later.
And whats up the idea to give a reward to players that invite 5 friends? You should fire who ever come up with that dumb idea. You cant even keep the people playing here. Most of my friends I game with already left. If it wasnt for the couple of friends that are still here and the small fleet I am apart of I would already be gone. It comes down to either my friends already tried it and left or I wouldnt bother wasting my friends money. Events like what happened to myself and others just pushes players leaving more and more each day.
Cyptic dont pretend people are so happy with the content you add, its just we are stuck with it. Stop being a chicken sh*t company and fix the game as it is, complete the Klingon side, get some real customer support, then only after all that lets talk adding another faction.
I never had a problem with players in the Big Dig, but Crystalline is another story. A waste of a fleet mission there.
C-Ent is a TRIBBLE-shoot as to whether the people in there will follow instructions and/or work together.
Given the overall feel and game-play in STO leading up to the C-Ent, it ill prepares anyone for the fight mechanics.
The big dig is not too bad, but yes, the disconnect/reset issue is indeed bad for business. A lot of games learned early on that they had to save the database progress at regular intervals, and not just 'key points' across missions.
I hope they continue to invest coding time into the game, to ensure that if something in the serer hiccups, the missions do not all reset, and recognize where they left off.

I have played other Cryptic games, so I have given them chances. Like the above poster stated about losing progress. This should be a given when making an MMO. Having customer support that has the tools to help players in game with bugged quest is another given with MMOs, but they still fail at this. The system they use with missions to generate random maps, like the explore missions that have seen people complain about they have used in the past and it didnt go over good with players then.
So yes they have been given thier chance years ago, but because they keep going about things the same way just shows they are a very poor company. If it was just another MMO I would have never bothered being it was Cryptic, but only because it was Star Trek am I here.
Something else to keep in mind is the first 3 months of a MMO usually tells the tell. It has been going for over 3 months now and you can see the state of the game. It has been said it had 100k subs at release (which is a very poor release) and no way are we close to 100k subs now, if there was even 100k to start with. A MMO gets 1 shot at release and what you do in the first few months decides if it is a success or failure. If it has a poor release it will never ever recover from it.

Disconnects happen in every MMO - WoW went down when my old guild was running the old 40-man Naxx raid.
Cryptic isn't pretending the playerbase is content - they not only read but they also respond to complaints and suggestions but also work to fix them. The devs have all stated what they don't like about systems in the game - and are changing them to fix it.
Well the fact that you gave them your money probably helps someone over there sleep at night.
Or they use a lot of night lights. And teddy bears.
TBH I have been wanting a new space MMO after LA forced the NGE on SWG. It was never the same again. I tried several MMOs and all was blend and the felt like another EQ or WoW. I new the risk entering, but thought no way Cryptic would make the same mistakes with past MMOs, but boy was I wrong. lol
Honestly I am here cause it is Star Trek. I will tough it out tell beta of swtor starts, if and only if the game has big improvements I will continue to play some, but spending most of my time in swtor as a I am a bigger SW fan. I want the game to be great, but have no faith in Cryptic.
So i say give the game, and the company some time to get things together. Some things cant happen overnight.
"Give it time" has been the rallying cry for Cryptic since the outset, and it's fair enough to say "Give the game and the company some time," unless they're charging - and they are.
If I hire someone to build a house for me, I don't expect them to get to the contract deadline and say "give it time." Of course, in that circumstance the contractor starts paying me for every day he's not finished and not vice versa.
If I go to a restaurant and order dinner then sit and wait for two hours only to have the server come to my table and say "The oven is new. Please, give it time," am I really supposed to be happy and just sit there?
If I have a disease that - if left untreated - would mean it would become terminal and the doctor says, "Well, it's not deadly yet, so I'm going golfing. Give me time," should I really not consider him an unmitigated idiot?
I've just never understood that kind of complacency. The time to "get things together" is pre-launch.
While Cryptic's not building a house for us, or serving us dinner, or treating an illness, the concept is the same.
And frankly, given that I have just experienced a bug that I have reported several times - starting in Open Beta - that STILL isn't fixed, I have absolutely no faith that giving it time will make much difference at all. I did report it again, but what's the point? Since I was reporting back in OB (January), and it still hasn't been fixed (there's more than one, but I just hit this one again a few minutes ago). Give it time? Give me a break.
The only reason I'm still here is that I have gametime left over from multiple purchases of a game that had so much promise, and - I believe - has failed so miserably to live up to a tenth of its potential.
Not every MMO. I've been playing Guild Wars for years. Not only did GW have the smoothest launch of any game I've ever seen - including the launch of each of their expansions - in years of playing I've only seen the server come down unexpectedly once, in December of 2009, and that came with a warning before hand.
Cryptic isn't pretending the playerbase is content - they not only read but they also respond to complaints and suggestions but also work to fix them. The devs have all stated what they don't like about systems in the game - and are changing them to fix it.
I would love to believe that, Darren. I really and honestly would. I've been a fan of Star Trek for over 40 years, and have wanted a ST MMO for a long, long time. I'd love to see STO succeed, but watching reported bugs (there's more than one) persist over a five-month period simply leaves me believing that the game will never be more than it is.
Cryptic, You should be thankful that some of the people here that play STO, are very loyal die-hard Star Trek fans, otherwise this game would have failed all ready. The fact that this game is based on Star Trek, might be it's key to survival. I, myself like Star Trek, but am not a Trekkie. I AM A GAMER! Freelancer is the Space Game that brought me over to this kind of game play, and for that I am grateful. The fact I stay playing this game, even though it has more bugs than a Shantee in the Slums of Africa, is because of the fact that I am a die-hard Gamer, (and I don't like wasting money).
Putting this games advancements and changes in the hands of the players is good to an extent, Keeping in mind that we are no longer 'testing' the game. That part should have been done more thoroughly before the Final Release. I kinda feel like you are charging people to do your jobs now, as the changes being made are so drastic they should have been made prior to the Final Release.
As a new Star Trek fan, I have struggled a little in understanding the game in it's entirety. Now that I understand Consoles, B.O.'s, Cannons vs. Banks & Arrays, Training & point application, and everything else, It seems I have to Re-Learn due to all the Major Changes. No Bueno Amigos..
I have done a lot of reading, (more for this game than any other), and now I find myself confused again. 2 months of leaning your system... Down the Drain!
The Bug-Report Submission and Response set-up is way to impersonal and automated, and makes the User feel insignificant and unimportant. (I understand there are a lot of Bug-Reports and it takes time to get to em all), But this is not our fault as Gamers, It is yours Cryptic. If the game had been tested better, there would be less. I have filled out several bug-reports, and although the specific problems identified have been addressed, Not once have I got any type of Human response from this team, or even an E-Mail. Very Impersonal... It's nice to see You value me as a customer.
If you really want to be successful, You need to make friends with your players. So far the relationship between us and Cryptic, seems to be like any other Automated Corporation that would rather address us as numbers and not people. Without Us... There could be NO YOU!
Stop creating so many Polls, and address the already existing problems. Customer input is needed for any evolving entity, and We, the Players, appreciate the fact that our input is valuable, But there is a fine line between making suggestions and designing a game. We don't get paid for this, You do. Fix that which is broken, and everything else will fall in to place. I don't know... Maybe your trying to hard, as the 'Patches' are more like 'Expansions or Mods', instead of bug fixes. I just don't think it's a good idea to Overhaul a game that hasn't been alive more than 6 months. The changes are Too Big! I think, Cryptic, that you have put too much emphasis in all the real fine detail, and have over-tweaked STO. Get back to the Basics... ONLINE PVP! How can we PVP in a one-sided game! STO is not balanced enough to be a true MMO. It seems more like an interactive Single Player Game. Not an MMO. PVP missions, Fleet missions, and single player NPC missions should be balanced for both sides... Fed and KDF.
You are past Creating and should be focused on smoothing out the rough edges of that which you have already created. Too late now, as You are forced to overhaul what should have been a small fix. In the future, (If there is one for you), Perfect what already exists, and then move forward. Otherwise the list of problems will keep growing, and overwhelm you.
Common players don't have time to report all the bugs, (and should not be their responsibility), or Post in the Forums everyday, or do 2 hours of reading to understand your weekly 'Patches'. They just want to play and see some progress made! Quit putting your work on our Backs... We already have work, that's how we pay our bills, such as this one.
I am not trying to be a Negative Nancy, by bashing this game or you, Cryptic... There are a lot of things about this game that are really awesome! I am merely making suggestions to better improve the game play of STO and the relationship between Admins/Devs and Players! I would not even waste my time on the Game or this Forum, If I didn't see a lot of potential.
Please don't make my STO game and box it came in, in to a $50 paper-weight!
Thank You for your time.
Now its your turn to show us thanks for ours! -- Vic

You played SWG and still act like you have never experienced downtime in an MMO???
I can name 5 MMOs that had issues for several months after launch, it happens, it is a common among MMOs as the grow and mature.
Why do you still like Star Wars if you know Lucas Arts forced NGE on SWG, Lucas Arts is behind Bioware with SWTOR, You should be ashamed of yourself for thinking SWTOR will be anything more than hello kitty with lightsabers. Lucas is all about marketing to the kiddies now...
in answer to the question "Can you do anything right Cryptic?"
they must be doing something right or you wouldnt still be here.
As I said before I am here because a. its a space MMO b. will be gone when sw:tor testing starts, if not sooner as my free time runs tell next month. When people leave when there free time is up its pretty clear they are not doing anything right.
Another ranting non-constructive post left for phoxie to clean up Monday Morning....
Non-constructive? So do you think people shouldnt point out things wrong with the game (are there is many) and how its being run? I am not one to suck up to a company, or keep my mouth shut about things. If Cryptic actually starts doing things that need to be done (and should have been done before launch) I will be one of the first to tell them "Thanks" and "good job". If people didnt complain, rant, blow off steam, or what ever you want to call it then a company would just assume all is well. Either what I have said, and obvisouly others is the truth. Sorry the truth hurts.

But youre not pointing out things youre making sweeping generalizations and flaming based on your very biased opinion
"Every game cryptic makes they fail"
Calling them "a POS company"etc etc etc
Its your truth as you see it, which doesnt make it fact based at all.

Yes there are MMOs that have issues to work out at launch, but to fail at basic stuff like Cryptic has even in past MMOs. To use the excuss it happens in other MMOs doesnt work. People can ride that dead horse all they want, but it doesnt fix the issues at hand.
The only reason I am here is that is ST. I did not get in on any testing so it was a gamble from the start. SW on the other hand is being made Bioware, probably the best story telling RPG game company out there. When testing starts we will see how good its going to be. If its not all that great, then I will treat like I have done other MMOs that actually followed through testing and wont bother with it. But during that time STO is going to need some work if I am going to be here long term.
Instead of people using the same old "just another rant" or "it happens in other MMOs". How about coming up with some actual great things being done to improve or fix the problems that so many complain about? Probably cause there is nothing that can be said but the same old comments to try and down play problems with the game.

Yes that is my personal opinion of Cryptic atm, only time will tell if they can do something to change my opinion of them.
As for the truth as I see it, well its pretty easy to see what they did with other MMOs. The system they use for random missions (that is not well liked) they did use before and it was a flop there. That is fact, not an opinion. The problems with STO are facts, its pretty clear whats going on. No I should not have made the bad comments, but when you spend a large amount of time on something and just have it thrown away can get someone ticked pretty fast. The mission should not have been reset had progress been saved as it shold have. You take away the negative comment, and the rest is actual problems with the game. Sad part this is not the first time I have had wasted time on a mission. I have had several game sessions spoiled by stuff like this. I am still not able to motivate myself to run any missions. Only good thing about all this is it gives me time to read some on the forums. lol

I have done that, and just as others have said on these forums it does no good. I have posted bug reports for what ever good it does. I even posted some of the things IMO that should be done in this thread. Normally I am not a hot headed person, but in my time in this game I have seen the same issues over and over. Having a hour+ game time lost, not once but several times, during a play session tends to push people to thier limits. If Cryptic would actually fix the problems with the game you wouldnt see so many "troll" post, but rather you would see people telling them what a good job thier doing.

Since Beta I have personally submitted over 75 bugs, to date 73 of them have been addressed. I have to laugh when folks say Cryptic doesnt address bugs. I wish that Blizzard didn't address bugs a good as Cryptic, maybe then my guild could do ICC without some show stopping issue.
Almost every time I have actually submitted a bug (thats going to the interface submitting said bug and getting a Ticket number not yelling on the forums what a POS company Cryptic is) The issue was resolved by the next patch at the very latest. That has been my experience I don't see why it would be different for anyone else.

LOL-- same old story here - "give the game sometime" - LOLOLOLOLOL
let me clarify... game is TRIBBLE and no amount of time can save it... I have heard your sentiments a million times before in all failed games... it does not wash with me at all.. this is a poor product rushed out the door for a fast money grab... there is no amount of "hang around it will get better" that can save this piece of junk game

This is actually a binary story, of the choose your own adventure type. There is indeed this ending found on page 76. The Give the game some time ending.
There is another ending you can choose. Door number 2. You can find it on your "manage my account" page.

Yes they have addressed some issues, but yet many still remain. As for my comment, it still remains. The main things that need to be addressed, like Klingon and lack of content, customization, ect. that would attract more players to that side and help balance things out. Instead they are talking about another faction when they have yet to complete what they have. Many people are not pleased with the ground game, exploration, PvP maps or open zone PvP. Tons of things that need attention, but no we are going to talk about a new faction or what items to charge people money for at the C-Store.
Instead they are talking about another faction when they have yet to complete what they have.
sigh.
They've been talking about Romulans since Beta. Jackalope commented he wanted them in the game as a faction FOR launch. But couldn't get it done.
The official dev commentary about a third faction is that it will not be put into the game until Klingons are complete. They've posted this every single time they've talked about this issue. They've said that a third faction can't even be put on the schedule until season 3.
We're in season 1.
Klingon update is coming in season 2.
I don't understand your criticism. They've said time and time and time again that they are working on klingon stuff. Some of it is already in the game that wasn't there at launch. I am levelling my klingon in PVE right now. I couldn't do that when I created him.
The faction needs story arcs and patrols to flesh it out. That's it. That's ALL they lack right now. They were given exploration and DSEs and Fleet Actions and STFs already. A huge boost in options.
They are getting uniform fixes. And story arcs.
This is confirmed.
Players keep saying ... "Devs klingons need more stuff."
Devs keep saying ... "Yes, they do. And it's coming."
So what is the point? All of that stuff will be in place before Romulans.

I wont go so far as say it cant be saved. It will take a lot of work and think it could be done, but the problem is with Cryptic. Its the same story different MMO. I just have no faith in them atm, but I challenge them to change my opinion of them.
I dont think they could ever salvage the game to ever reach 250k or more subs, but maybe enough to get back lost players and gain a few. Maybe at some point being able to hold 100k to 150k subs. That is a reasonable goal. At a later date releasing an expac could attract more players, but they have to fix the game as it is first. Now if there is not big improvements by the 6 month mark I would say yes it is a sinking ship that will never hold more than 50k subs if that.

All things that should have be in game from launch. I have a Klingon too, but got so burned out on doing the same exploration missions over and over and over to lvl so that I can do the STFs. Yes it was a boost in options, but not a huge boost. When they have as much content and customization as the Fed side then it will be a huge boost.
As for as 3rd faction mention during beta that is news to me as I didnt follow the game much during that time. Still doesnt make me jump for joy. Its not far off from seaons 2 so we will see how much better the game gets at that point.
All things that should have be in game from launch.
Well if you have a constitution class cruiser ... and access to the Sol system ... feel free to slingshot around the sun. And fix that.
Until then ... like I said ... bashing the company for finding out which third faction to add after they say they complete the second faction ... is a criticism with no real meaning.

I never had a problem with players in the Big Dig, but Crystalline is another story. A waste of a fleet mission there.

Having customer support that has the tools to help players in game with bugged quest is another given with MMOs, but they still fail at this.
Well the fact that you gave them your money probably helps someone over there sleep at night.
Or they use a lot of night lights. And teddy bears.
Cryptic isn't pretending the playerbase is content - they not only read but they also respond to complaints and suggestions but also work to fix them. The devs have all stated what they don't like about systems in the game - and are changing them to fix it.
I would love to believe that, Darren. I really and honestly would. I've been a fan of Star Trek for over 40 years, and have wanted a ST MMO for a long, long time. I'd love to see STO succeed, but watching reported bugs (there's more than one) persist over a five-month period simply leaves me believing that the game will never be more than it is.
they must be doing something right or you wouldnt still be here.
As I said before I am here because a. its a space MMO b. will be gone when sw:tor testing starts, if not sooner as my free time runs tell next month. When people leave when there free time is up its pretty clear they are not doing anything right.
Instead of you using typical troll tacticts how about posting your concerns in a constructive manner and give examples on what you think would make a better game.
It does no good huh?
Well, that settles it. Next time I experience a bug I'm sending the report to YOU!
Feel free
Yet, your'e still here.
This is actually a binary story, of the choose your own adventure type. There is indeed this ending found on page 76. The Give the game some time ending.
There is another ending you can choose. Door number 2. You can find it on your "manage my account" page.
Good luck! Choose wisely!
Tons of things that need attention, but no we are going to talk about a new faction or what items to charge people money for at the C-Store.
Well if you have a constitution class cruiser ... and access to the Sol system ... feel free to slingshot around the sun. And fix that.
Until then ... like I said ... bashing the company for finding out which third faction to add after they say they complete the second faction ... is a criticism with no real meaning.
