Can someone answer why?

This is a rant plus a legitimate question.

I really would like to know. Why... someone has to cheat or use an exploit in this game? Especially in PVP?

Seriously, I have NEVER understood the need to use an exploit in a game. Does anyone have an answer?

It happened to me tonight, well it was happening to a bunch of us. I wont' go into details cause I don't wanna call anyone out etc. Yet I really don't understand the point in why someone would need to do that.

Without naming names, what was the nature of the "exploit"?

Warping out of the map and then back in. Every time he got chased he would boost out of range (no problem there) but if others followed he would warp out of the system and then in a minute or two he would be back in. Then rinse and repeat.

Some thought it might be him getting DC'd but he would only do it when he was being chased.

That is an exploit (and part of the reason they didn't allow us to warp out for a while).

Did you file a complaint or bug report?

I think you can file an exploit report.

I filled a GM request. Should I file a bug report also?

You should be able to do both.

Read over the details of each, one of them might allow you to report the player for the violation. He/she/it might get warned, discouraging such behavior until such a time as when a patch fixes said exploit.

    Why would anyone cheat?

I think the answer might be this: When one goes into a game expecting to win 100% of the time he quickly looses patience when he starts loosing.

Next he starts actively seeking methods in the game for improoving his chances of victory, by any means. In most cases this means that the player starts a respec and gets diffrent weapons and consoles, while adapting his gameplay, but in certain rare cases (thank god for that), a player seeks whatever means he can get.

Now he by accident, or in a forum, discovers a way on how to exploit game mechanics to take advantage of some buildin bug that gives him the advantage he needs, so he uses it.

How do I know: Quite simple really

I do this myself. Not Online (i get back to why later). I cheat in singleplayer games, campaigns and skirmish missions, because of the above reason. I love blowing stuff up and i don't want to bother doing stuff all over if I fail, and since it is a game where only I get affected by this choice.

I NEVER cheat online. If it is a MMO or a Just a Multiplayer match of a game, i dont touch or even consider using Exploits (in fact i would ban whoever used them if they were in my fleet). The reason for this is that i used to be lead admin in a net cafe, where some people were cheating in games like counterstrike, and i saw how it can ruin it for others... Too bad we never got to use this as punishment for cheating:

In any case i think people who cheat online lack a certain moral area in their brain... It is notbodys buissness if you cheat yourself, but cheating others is just wrong.
