Reinforcements?

So I was doing an "exploration" mission in the B'Tran Cluster, one of those roll up to an asteroid base and they're suddenly attacked one. I was on the final ship and had to immediately go afk. When I got back I noticed my shields were down and hull was at 44%.

No biggie, got my shields hull back up and was starting to finish off the enemy ship when a "Federation Frigate" (Miranda-class) warps in and starts firing on said enemy. Enemy ship goes BOOM, I complete my daily, and the Miranda disappears.

Now don't get me wrong, I am by no means complaining, I thought that was awesome. But I have to ask, what the hell was all that about?

Thats actually a special feature. You sometimes get reinforcements when you're in trouble.

"Fleet Support - While you have less than 50% hull, every thirty seconds, there is a roll made, to determine if a ship will come to your aid. If one does, it triggers a 1 hour cooldown. This ability will work in both PvE and PvP. The ship may be an admiral-rank cruiser. This ability is entirely passive. It does not show up in your the abilities window."

That's from STOWiki's character planner. I'm pretty sure you get it around RA5, if not at RA5.

Wow, I never even knew about that. As I said, that is really cool, it was just totally unexpected to see a Fed ship pop in and start hammering on the ship I was fighting. And I don't have that photonic ability that creates more ships, so I knew it wasn't that.
