How about a better Tricorder?

Tricorders are cool. I'd like to be able to see the actual readout from my Tricorder in a HU display. For example: wouldn't it be cool if we could find out what the Tricorder is detecting BEFORE we hike off to find out what it is? Maybe I don't want another tribble (nothing against the little buggers). Also, how about something telling me the distance to my Tricorder target? If it's around the next rock, maybe I do want that tribble.

How do others feel about this topic?

You mean you want something other than a compass? You sir, are asking for too much.

Heck, at this point I'd settle for being able to tell quest objectives from nodes.

Agreed Cyllus. Maybe a mode function for the tricorder scanning, one for quest items, one for nodes.

    Hi,

I found this thread with the search function. I also wish there would be a scanning mode for the Tricorder/Scanner

I've done the Big-Dig-daily and in the end i've done the part where i had to scan for the plants. So i used my scanner to locate them but got only 2...

Then the map was reset and my scanner showed me only the nearest mission-dependent object. So i had to search the plants on my own in that maze! I really wish there would have been a scanning mode: SEARCH FOR PLANTS ONLY!!!
