I'm very encouraged by the Engineering Reports and the upcoming features. At the same time, there are things which I, being selfish, would like to see in the game. Some of them will never happen, but if I could walk into the Cryptic offices and start giving orders like a petty despot, these are the things which I would do. Not because they help the most players or anything like that, but for no other reason than because I WANT THEM.
- Add the Andorian ice mining tool as a melee weapon and give it combos like unarmed martial arts and the bat'leth. Since Ushaan is supposed to be done with the two combatants tied together, I would like to see a root or even a pull in these combos (like the lasso attack of Snake Gulch) which kept the target in melee range with the knife-fighter for a few seconds.
- Add uncommon and rare melee weapons. Give us bat'leths and other weapons with unusual properties. More bleed damage, better holds, more knockback, and so on.
- Add supported voice chat without using Ventrilo, ala LotRO. STFs like Infected and the Cure are so Ventrilo dependent that teams simply will not take you without it. A game should not require a service that it cannot itself provide. LotRO's integrated voice chat eliminates one step -- you don't have to go anywhere or do anything to enable voice chat.
- Add a roleplay forum. I keep getting the impression that Cryptic's team just doesn't get into RP. That RP is something they allow to fall to a lower priority. This is a real shame considering the wealth of the IP. Ten Forward is not an RP forum; it includes RP in its purview, but RP topics are quickly drowned out by all the other (fun and entertaining, but not RP related) threads. Turbine may not communicate to fans as well as you guys do, but they have an RP forum and it has its own community.
- Introduce a way to exchange low level medals (of exploration or PvP) for higher level ones, presumably at an exchange rate of less than 1:1. I am returning to low level star clusters to gather data samples for Memory Alpha; it would be nice if the medals I got for these missions were not worthless to me.
- Clean up those awful emote texts. Half of them are grammar nightmares and the rest are just stupid. Again, this comes back to a casual disregard for RP. Emotes are used primarily by RPers, and when we use them we don't want to see "Oh my god, like, space is SOOOO big!" That just means we cannot use that emote.
- BOff voices! I think the folks at Cryptic played a lot of Age of Conan, and one of the places you see it was the early promise of voices. I'd make that promise pay off. This will make our BOffs come alive. I'm sure we'll also want to shut them up once in a while, so we'll also need some kind of interface that lets us decide how talkative they are.
Other things I would add -- like mission replay, using a single member's level for the entire team, and more cute outfits besides the Mirror outfit -- are already in progress and I look forward to them. But if the STO Santa came early, this is what he would bring me.
Comments
*Some sort of way to weaponize my Tribbles (Tribble Launcher)
*Being able to go to Betazed
*A Hat to wear
*Being able for my character to swim
*A passout emote for when my character drinks to much
Also I'm with you on your list
especially the RP Forum, we need that. It'll make me a happy camper.
Please.... this right here, Ten forward doesn't cut it.
Bat'Leths are certainly nifty, but they're so very Klingon orientated.
Along the same storylines but harder and more suited to someone who is level 45.
/signed all the above...
Its coming actually. Dstahl posted some pictures of the 'Ready Room' coming soon that will have some trophy options to decorate it.

Thanks.................
Let's say I want to advertise a roleplay-focused fleet. If I put it in the Fleet Recruitment forum, it is buried in MINUTES by the active threads of non-RP fleets. If I put it in Ten Forward, it is buried by ... all the non-roleplayers.
A Roleplay Forum, please!
I thought that was what Ten-Forward was for.
Remember a direct response to a RP forum request from one of the GM types, and he pointed to Ten-Forward of course. It's not a RP forum, it's a random chit-chat forum...
Regarding Ventrillo, I am loathe to install it again, something about it just turns me off. More or less literally.

Ten Forward is great. I have no complaints about Ten Forward. But my request is for a DEDICATED ROLEPLAY FORUM.
Discussion about roleplaying quickly gets buried in Ten Forward's general chit-chat. If I want to recruit for an RP fleet, there is nowhere to do that where the thread is not buried on page 3 in literally minutes by threads that have nothing to do with roleplay.
