This is a simple thread to throw a couple ideas Cryptic's way.
One thing I would like to see is an expanded level system. Basically after you've reached Rear Admiral Star Fleet Transfers you to a secrete testing facility in the delta quadrant that are working on new cruisers escorts and science vessels. all the experimental stuff and your job is to test the new stuff out in the Delta Quadrant. being a part of this new division you are given a lower rank since Star Fleet "technically" has nothing to do with this testing. But you keep your skills that you have already acquired... something to that effect. I would love to hear back from someone on the possibility of that. Star Trek is kinda a obsession and if there is any way that i can help this game fulfill my need to have more I will.
Also this thread is more meant to throw Long time ideas at Cryptic. How to expand the game outside of just being a game and into an alternate reality. Ways to expand it so there is never a dull moment. I hope plenty of other avid players will post and that Cryptic will consider the idea.
Other than that, I'm not sure how much I like this idea (yet). I'm all for expanding the game, but only within the parameters that the development team has laid out. Adding exploration missions/episodes, reworking exploration, adding hot new lore and adding some new STF raidisodes. All of these things must be done within the game plan that the development team has given us over the last two years. The Federation/Klingon war, the Klingon domination of the Gorn (and subsequently the Nausicans), the rogue Borg units, and the Undine espionage and personnel replacements. What you've suggested is outside of the realm of the lore and story lines that we're working with. I'm down with thinking outside the box to make game improvements, but I fear this may be a little bit too outside of the box.
Impressive idea, however. A secret Starfleet mission to produce new weapons and ships? A Federation Skunkworks - I like it. I just don't think it fits within our realm - at least not yet. The game may progress to that point in the future, but not quite yet.
Yea agreed it is a bit early to be expanding to that point but its an Idea Thread, more theoretical then actual work. One of those lets see kinda things and to see what the development team thinks. We all know that the possibilities are endless to what could be added in the game. However, aside from what is actually going to be put into play its always fun to mesh about with ideas that others have. Bounce them back and fourth and possibly to see some of those ideas be put into the game play. A true MMO isn't about the parameters of what the development teams wants. Its about how the players take it and where they take it. If the players are crying for Species 8472 to wipe out the Borg leaving only scattered spheres and cubes disconnected and alone to create their own collectives and start Borg Civil War. Then the Development team does it. Its the players game not the Development teams. Now i haven't read all of the current stuff for whats going on. I normally don't do that i find it more interesting to see it pop up in the game and surprise me. So I cant say I really know whats going to happen but still.
Aside from the retort. We all know that Starfleet is totally into the secrete squirrel stuff. And it would be cool to see that take form somewhere in the game. What I want to know is How? How do yall think Starfleet's secrete experiments are being conducted. I think its all conspiracy. After Voyager returned from the Delta Quadrant Starfleet to the information about the Quadrant and created a way to get there secretly and began conducting warp drive testing, weapons, new armor. Only the highest levels of Starfleet know and the only mention of it outside those circuits is from conspiracy theorists.
