Warning Cryptic Will Rip You Off If You Cancel

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Hi I bought STO when it was released and logged on and cancelled my subscription before my free time ended as i didn't like the game for various reasons.

Checked my bank statements this morning and cryptic has still been charging me for a subscription fee, I've played lots of MMo's and am well aware of how to cancel a subscription.

What a total joke this game is and ripping people off by reinstating there subscription after it has been cancelled is just low.

If you want people to keep paying then actually make a decent game rather than something that becomes infinitely boring after playing it for not many hours.

Total joke and i'm not the only one this has happened to.

Will never buy another cryptic game.

Even if you cancel your subscription before the free month runs out, you still have to pay for the 1 month needed to actually activate your account.

NO it shouldn't of charged him/her so either he/she made a mistake and didn't cancel the sub or Cryptic made a mistake and didn't cancel his sub.

Maybe the threadstarter did a last minute "cancellation" that's after a typical monthly deduction date meant for credit transaction.

E.g Transaction happens every 24th of every month. He cancels only on 27th , 1 day before his "free time" is over but his credit is already been updated with a deduction.

    Well, just get refund ...

No, that's NOT how it works - if you cancel BEFORE the free month is up (in any MMO) - you DON'T get charged - the price of the box essentially includes the free month. That said, billing mistakes or other issues happen. I was charged for a month after I cancelled by Funcom and Age of Conan. You just need to call and open a ticket with the Billing department and tghey'll straighten it out.

Good rule of thumb when you canel ANY MMO - go back and make SURE you status is 'cancelled' and remove the credit card info before you hit cancel too. You're always dealing with an automated server process, and it' always good to make sure your change or transaction took after doing it.

and it is always someone elses fault and never yours?
    did you delete CC info?
did you verify that your sub was cancelled and it would end on xx date?
stuff happens dude. get over yourself. seems easier to spew stupid stuffs here then to actually locate the problem. (which may be with you anyway)
your not the first ignoramus to forget to click a box, or verify information is deleted.
but you can overcome this. i know you can. i have faith.
