I hope that we can get this convenience. In the current emote system, is is extremely cumbersome to scroll through the list of emotes and then activate them.
Can we get a dedicated Social Tray for our emotes, or just allow us to drag the emote's icons over to a ground combat tray so we can just click to activate the emote?
There was a similar system in the Matrix Online - you could save emotes to the combat tray. This ultimately proved problematic when you needed your combat skills and all you did was backflops and orang-utan dances.

Think of how funny this would look as you get cut down by disruptor fire......

It'd be great to assign a line of dialogue to a button. For example, "Fire on my target" or "heal" would be appreciated.
It'd help in PUGs without ventrilo.
Some kind of macro system would be great. Even if it only let us put a single activatable ability in the macro. EQ2 had a pretty good system for that sort of thing. Limiting it to a single activatable limits botting pottential.
So for example, a macro that: Targeted something specific, activated an ability, and said/emoted something in relation to it.
I don't think you can type emotes but I would support that feature it would be easier to type /salute for instance than to pull up your emote menu then scroll to find that paticular emote. I use some emotes more than others.
So what's wrong with simply pinning the emote menu to your UI? You know, the one that you can get to by clicking the little group of people at the bottom right of the chat pane. And then going to the Emote section and clicking the pin in the top right corner. Which keeps the menu open (albeit a smallr scrolling menu) on your UI. And you can move it to where you want to.
You can type emotes, you just have to use ";" (semicolon) instead of slash.
So to salute, it's ;salute
Something changed in Season One though. You used to be able to use convenient, shorter names for certain emotes. Like ";sitlounge". Now you have to type it out as ";sit (lounge)". Basically, exactly the same way as it appears in the emote menu.
Cryptic games have a fairly decent macro system too, but I can't find my reference for it. It might be over on the Champions side.

Thanks for the info I did not know that, now that will make my life alot easier starting this evening...
Currently, you can pin the emotes menu to your UI, keeping it open to simply click on whatever emotes you want. However, it does seem to disappear every loadscreen the last I checked.

This strangely reminds me of SWG...

Would be good for exactly the reason you gave.
That would be sweet
