Cryptic = stop TRIBBLE with the difficulty level... !!!

How else can you explain a Lieutenant doing a Lt.Commander mission??

WTF??? Why do you continue to mess with the difficulty levels?

And dont say you dont - because I just spent four missions going TWICE the usual amount of time.

You listen to a few whiners who want it harder - but then mess it up for the majority.

As Judge Judy would say "Put your listening ears on!!"

Unbelieveable.

There is no need to mess with anything - add more content - dont fuss with the difficulty level!

Oy vey.................

Instead of making the AI better they just seem to of make them with more powerful weapons then you will every get, a stronger hull and what I would really like is to get my hands on their mod shields that you will never get.

You're a Lt doing LtCom missions and saying they are too hard... ok possible clue in there somewhere....... 8')

Normal is still there, you don't have to go advanced or elite, so how did they ruin anything by giving folks that want a harder game those options?

I do not fellow you... Are you at Lt doing LtC mission or are you at Lt and your mission are to hard for you?

If you are at Lt lvl and you are doing LtC mission and find them are hard it is because they are supposed to be harder than Lt mission for you. Not only that but if you changed difficulty level to anything else than normal the mission will be even harder than a normal one.

Since they added the slider i did not find any wrong while playing with my LtC 2 character in the mission i have done until now. Since i have a few Lt mission left i put the slider at the hardest setting and everything seem ok. I did not try any mission at LtC yet since i want to finish lower before.

With my captain caracter i had some trouble at start when i tried the hardest level. I had my butt kicked a few time doing low lvl mission like exploring the first cluster next to Sol. For now it seem find after upgrading a few thing and doing the mission carefully. On the hardest level it do not fell like the ai is cheating but more like a player and using skill like us to counter the one we use against them so it is not bad but fun.

    Corrected some typo

I don't see what your problem is. Setting it at "Normal" will keep the difficulty the same as before.

Nothing changed if you keep the difficulty at Normal.

Well, I do gotta wonder how the open instancing works. Since the mission difficulty is set by the team leader... if someone else is set to a lower difficulty but not teamed, would they get open instanced into a group at a higher difficulty? Might explain what's happening.

Open instances do not use the difficulty slider.

What are some suggestions to improve AI?

And are they workable within the current system?

And do they have people on staff that can make the changes?

I don't know the answers to these questions.

    Ok I go list some:

Make AI have what you can have like I have a mk X shield they have a mk X shield of the same or other types of mk X shield that is not mod.

It is possible to make the AI know about there shields and so they can turn and move to another shield facing.

Have the AI do/use more Bridge Officers powers (random set) in a why that is not to fast but random speeds for them to use a power like:

If I jam sensors they don't just hit science team (if they have a science team) instead a random number of sec between like 1-the max jam sensors can be done for so it gets jam sensors random number of sec then it hits science team.

Beam overload, high yield or what every it gets to have just because the count down has gone for it to be used don't make that have a random number of sec between like 1-20 so that its not like high yield 30 sec, high yield, 30 sec, high yield... but random so high yield 30 sec, high yield, 42 sec, high yield.

Do the same to Emergency power to shields

This might make them look harder to deal with but right now they are mod and when your shields are down with their mod weapons your hull just goes from 100% to 25% that fast even PvP is not that bad.

They some how think there current system is fine but any changes can be done with skills to do it if not then no.

You're either grouped with people while trying to run solo, or you're running headlong into multiple groups.

Either way, you were doing something you shouldn't have. I've never seen that. Most I've gotten was 2 swordmasters in a group when I was soloing.

I believe they do use it. At least like patrol missions and such. Your character will default to only going into the difficulty you have set though. You can change it to join any difficulty though and if it is different from your set value it will warn you first.

At least that has been my experience so far.

Things to note about difficulty settings:
    • When teamed, the Team Leader’s difficulty setting prior to entering the system determines the difficulty of the mission.
    • Difficulty settings do not apply to Fleet Actions, PVP, Social Maps, or Deepspace Encounters (or any other non-instance map)
    • We have disabled difficulty settings for Special Task Forces temporarily while we adjust the system to work with the increased difficulty of these special missions.
    • You cannot modify difficulty once you have entered a mission map. All settings must be set or modified prior to entering the mission. If you want to change the difficult of a mission you are currently on, all players must exit the mission and wait 15 minutes for the mission to cooldown before your new difficulty settings can be applied .

Those are what I consider open instances. You cannot set your ability to not group and have a private instance there. And these are the instanced I believed RCSlyman was revering.

To me since the patrol missions will not let you enter into that instance without your either being in the group or having open team invite which the game will then put you into an instance with someone who is set to your difficulty level. You can set those patrol missions to a private encounter by turning off your team option.

No, I meant the patrol missions, which you can join a player or group that's already in one. That's open instancing. The ones that you highlighted in red, are area battle maps. Meaning there's really no end to them, and no effective limit to the number of players in them.
