the possibility of something rarer then purples? or adding purples to MA?
id love it if they invented some 'red items' or ultra rare, (what ever you want to call them) to add to memory alpha. if you going to spend ages crafting stuff then there needs to be a point to it
Q: admiral 5, full of purple. Is there any value in crafting or is everything now top end?
Thanks,
i've always crafted up mk x rare items from MA just on the basis of getting good gear til i can get the dailies. it does take quite a while to get full purples and so i just sideshift the rare gear to BO's 5-10 or to a second RA ship until i've done enough dailies to get that equiped with purples as well.
There are no items beyond rare in the Memory Alpha system yet, with blue items being the highest possible crafted rarity.
We are evaluating new items that we once approved will add purples to the system.
Have you considered doing stuff like "Crafting cooldowns" for particularly high end items? I mean, to get Purple items, I basically mostly have to do missions I can do only daily. So maybe the ability to craft Purple items could also be restricted in that way.
It would probably also create a "more interesting" market, overall. Purple items remain rare and difficult to get.
Of course, this kinda screws over fleets that have a dedicated crafter. Which I generally think is a good and fine concept. Hmm...
I would much prefer the purple recipes to either take a boatload of anomalies or a component that rarely ever drops than an arbitrary timer.
I'd much prefer that the system not make these things hampered by artificial roadblocks. I think many players have suggested that crafting can open its own niche by having more customization or control over the bonuses that the items grant. There could be a market for Rare over Very Rare if the rare has the bonuses more suited to certain preferences.
However, if there must be an artificial roadblock or bottleneck to control the flow of items, I think that the same daily timer that exploration and pvp badge missions have would work here too. Making it equal across the board.
Basing it off of rare drops skews things. Because rare drops are still subject to the whims of a random number generator. Some will benefit from this. Others will loathe it. But there will be disparity. And friction.
If instead it's the same timer all the OTHER top-end purple items have in place, then it's just fair and equal.

Looking forward to a system that is worth working towards. Make these purples unique and hard to make and I'll happily do the grind. And to the person that suggested a cooldown timer, I'm with you on that one. It's a good idea and not unheard of in MMO crafting systems.

Depending on what science BO abilities you use the Memory Alpha Deflector Dishes may actually offer better itemization than the purples from Exploration missions/PvP.
The MA ones have +10 to two different Tier 2 skills (which affect a wide range of science abilities) while the purple ones have a +10 bonus to a single t2 skill and +10 to two other T3-5 skills. So the MA ones actually provide bonuses to a wider range of abilities than the purples ones currently available.

how about adding phasers and quantum torpedoes at higher tiers?

On the other, flooding the market with goods means that everything is worth less (and therefore less unique).
