View R&D Progress Window w/ Store Window + Music Player Issue

First, I am happy as all hell that the "R&D Progress" window exists. It's looong over due. Anyway, looks like you can't have an NPC's "Store" window open at the same time you have the "View R&D Progress" window up. Also, if you have the "Vew R&D Progress" window up you don't even get the option to talk to the NPC. I play multi-monitor so I have the "Progress" window on a side screen and it took a second for me to realize it was that window being open that impeded me. Rather cumbersome.

[Edit: Make this any NPC'ish-type window (e.g., Bank, Mail, etc.)

Second, the "Progress" window doesn't tell you when to talk to the next NPC in the Memory Alpha chain. Yeah, I know when I've completed a tier, but I should (at the appropriate time) get a mission request to go "talk" to the next person so I know where/who to go to.

[Edit: It looks like you don't have to talk to anybody anymore, you just have to go to the kiosks now. Poor O'Brien, lol. Personally, I liked the interaction with the humanoid NPC as opposed to a kiosk. I hope they find a way to add that element back into the crafting later.]

Finally, and on a separate note, the "Music Player" window closes whenever you change zones/beam up/etc. Rather annoying. Again, I like to have this window up on some other monitor and I'd like for it to stay up. :)

Good input on the Memory Alpha UI.

As for the music player, IIRC Coderanger was the one who put it together, and I don't think he works (primarily) on UI elements. So in that respect I think we're fortunate that it works at all. I think some of the music player features discussed before have been:
    • Persistence between zoning
    • a ticker bar for long title names (instead of overflowing off the player)
    • more player compatibilities
But given that it seems coderanger appears to be the only one that knows how to get things like this to work and that it's not exactly his top priority at the moment, it may be a while before it gets touched.

you know, you don't need the music player to be open to listen to music, you just need to open it when you want to pause the music and stuff.

Oh I know. Direphoenix, was on the mark in his post. I don't need to have it up, but I like having it up. Just a preference. I also have a tendency to skip forward and back a lot, so again, I'd rather just keep it yup.

Yeah, I figured we're lucky to have the feature at all, but since it's there it would be nice if got a little TLC. :)
