GOOD Feedback

Seems like most of the feedback coming to Cryptic and the dev team from this forum is either negative or insulting, so...

Here's a thread for all the things people LIKE about the game and want to see more of :D (not things that they don't like and wish were changed/improved )

I'll go first:

The distinction between passive/sector space and active/instance space is cool, especially when you're just pootling around and you pick up a distress signal from the Pico system and decide to change course, warp in and save the day! I think there's a load of ways to develop this to make the game experience more spontaneous and dynamic, but as a starting point this is awesome. Sector space naturally lends itself to unexpected comms and plot developments as well as just travelling from place to place without just watching a warp-stream and waiting to arrive. Location based triggers, like proximity to a system of vessel, really make you feel immersed in the game, especially things like suddenly realising you're actually being pursued and intercepted by two Enemy Signal Contacts from two different directions! If there were more different random events that could occur in any system or even deep-space, that would all the better!

Being able to invite other players to your bridge is great. It would be cool if you could take them for a tour of your ship, or even have this be a part of diplomacy with visiting officials, or if you could ask them to train with you in a holodeck. It would also be cool if the bridge was a place where some of the action really took place, maybe not in terms of combat action (except boarding parties :)) but just in terms of story progression or encounters with enemy commanders/Q/new species etc.

The artwork for this game is all pretty amazing.

I love that the developers seem to pay attention to what their customers are saying. I've read some pretty harsh criticism of how this game is progressing, and I've also read some dubious responses from Cryptic employees, but on balance it seems like what people want is in the pipeline. I hope that the developers aren't bothered by a minority of players with their negative and unhelpful comments, since this game has given me some real fun in the last few months and I expect great things for the coming few.

Star Trek Online is abundant with potential for real greatness and excellence, and I for one am really looking forward to seeing what you're going to do with this potential!

I absolutely feel that same way, and I also love how approachable the Devs are on IRC. :D

Yeah really. I mean, yeah there are always improvements that could be made, but I've been very happy with the game so far..and everything that cryptic has done.

I am enjoying the game however there are moments when i wish for the warp stream like the OP stated and yes i have enjoyed the starbase for fleets idea for some time now yet there is something lacking. The game's greatest setback so far for me is the so called war between the Klingons and the Federation. I was hoping when i first saw the game advertised on youtube for the war to be mostly player vs player with all ships engaged in combat no matter the level in warzones scattered throughout the quadrant. Instead we are left battling AI invaders for constant drops while all three space combat player vs player zones have people queuing for ridiculous amounts of time when they could just be forming invasion parties. :(

The war is on welcome to 2409 ... Player vs Player warzones and deep space encounters please cyrptic this is critical to the games growth and the players wellbeing, as both sides are ment to be at war are we not. ;)

Generally I like the game, both ground and space. Very nice looking, for 3 months out...I can't complain.
Though there are a few major bugs that really irritate me, most of the game is very smooth ( I played SWG where there were STILL launch bugs in game until at least a year ago).
The thing I'm most impressed by?

Bi-weekly updates! That's insane! I mean, I'm a huge fan of LotRO, and they don't come even close to this....and I hear talk of a weekly episode? Just....wow. I've seen people complain that they don't update enough and am just baffled TBH. I suppose there could be an MMO out there with more updates, but I've never played it (inform me if I'm wrong, I'll be glad to check it out).

I started on April 4th or 6th, and the amount of things added in about 5 weeks is jaw-dropping personally.

I'm probably in the minority, but I enjoy the game so much, I wish I had pre-ordered it.....and yes, I'm saving up for a life-time sub. The freedom it has given me in LotRO has been priceless.

I really feel like a part of the Star Trek universe when I play. That's enough for me!

I enjoy the ship combat as well. Combat is something that I'm usually pretty meh about in the other MMOs that I have played.

The stories are interesting and fun.
