    It's a Dyson Sphere.

Yep, one of the pet projects of one of the devs. It's based on the one that Scotty's shuttle was orbiting in TNG. It'll be awesome if it gets in-game. I can't believe a whole DYSON SPHERE was found in TNG and then -never- -ever- mentioned again!

Indeed! And were made so powerful they were able to suck up suns! Problems came when it was time to empty the container...

Not sure about that but Dyson's Sphere model is amazing at picking up animal hair. :D

That just looks planet sized, though. A Dyson Sphere is supposed to surround the an entire inner solar system at a distance of the "life-zone" orbital. The purpose is to trap and utilize 100% or emitted solar energy. They are supposed to be HUGE!!!

keep in mind it depends on the size of the star, the smaller the star the smaller the sphere

LOL. For a second I envisioned a Dyson Sphere surrounding a neutron star, with unlivable pressure on the inside surface... or maybe "pancake-people."

It's a bit on the small side to be a classic Dyson Sphere. Maybe it's one of those cosy pocket spheres.

it actually sort of looks similar to the world in one of the later episodes that has been taken over by the Borg. Just reminded me of the Death Star hah :)

I posted ina screenshot thread on the beta forums with this exact same planet, same caption. Sadly those forums are gone so I can't crosslink it. Here's the screenshot though.

No this system/planet are in the game, one of the patrol sector missions though I forget which one. I took my screenshot during beta though, the OP probably took his recently.
