Fix the shipyard customization already

The following need to be fixed:

1) Viewing range restored as it was, since for smaller ships like a fleet escort I can hardly see most of the
pattern changes.

2) Add the C Store class on the list of available ships

3) Stop the inherit charge that incurs every time we go back to modify a ship that has a C Store component
even if no changes are made

4) Ability to save the ship configuration for later use.

Thank you

1: I agree. I can hardly see ANY class of ship. They are tiny. I liked it when I could zoom in to the point the ship went off the edges of my monitor.

    2: I agree.

3: I agree. And what's been on my mind is why the base price to modify changes from time to time or place to place.

4: I think this is already possible. Next time you mod your ship, look over to the left. There is a Save button, if I'm not mistaken, just like for the character Tailor.

I'm not sure what you're talking about here. If you don't make a change, you can just hit the CANCEL button, which negates any charges listed on the "meter".

As a further adendum to the above note, changing a bridge always costs 1,000 EC, except for the 2 free bridge changes you get every time you buy a bridge pack.

Yes but if you DO decide to change one thing the cost will be the change PLUS that charge. Get it now?

Completely agree with the OP, dreading getting up to a fleet escort ATM.

every time I open the ship customization window I am already charged $800 EC and i havent even done anything yet. Last night after said 800 EC charge, it was still going to cost me $60K to apply the new Fleet escort skin to my ship......

The 800 EC is a "tailor fee" that is pretty standard for most all MMOs I've ever played.

Yes they are tacking on a charge before you make your first change to the ship. Why? I have no idea, but it's a bogus thing to do imho.

This "fee" is a bug my dear boy. It happens because the C Store parts revert when you re-visit the ship tailor. We are not talking about the cost of altering something. I am inclined to think that once more you charged in guns blazing without having a clue what we talk about here.

Trust you however to find a reason to justify even this. Do you get paid to do that?

City of Heroes charges a "tailoring fee" every time you change your costume unless you have a free costume change token, so a fee is not unheard of.

I have several ships using parts from the C-Store and have never encountered this bug. I'm not denying it's there, just clarifying I've never experienced it.

Nice try at flaming me though. :)

I like to think you are an intelligent chap that just skimmed the posts out of habit. Please go back and read the issue again described because you still don't understand what I describe. No need to get all paranoid we are out to get you...:p

I'd settle for better lighting so I can see what I'm doing with different paint schemes.

Second that! The "showroom" is rather dark, it is everything but easy to see some changes you have made, unless you rotate the ship to very specific angles. But then again you can't see everything you want from that very angle. I can only hope Cryptic enhances the lightning in there soon. Better zoom options would be nice too, of course!

indeed it is very dark and when applying patterns to sections because of the shadowed nature of the customisation screen its often very hard to see what it looks like.

And the ZOOM IN function definitely needs fixing, my eyes arent great anymore and we've gone from being able to zoom RIGHT in, to hardly being abel to zoom in at all...which isnt good.

I agree with all the OP's points, as well as the additional lighting request. As to the "surcharge" we're being hit with, Shard-Warrior, do you have any evidence that the charge is a tailor fee or is that a guess? I'm not flaming or anything, just curious. Personally, I think it's pretty bad form to start charging a fee for the tailor and not have that change in patch notes or something. I know that CO had an issue of 'ghost' charges being present as soon as you entered the tailor, but that was a bug.

Adding a super-hot Orion chick to "Vanna White" our final design would be cool, too. :)

Both CO and STO have tailoring fees based solely on the actual items changed, with no general 'overhead' fee. The bug described - a fee without any changes made - occurs on both, and seems to be made worse by unlocks and purchased items. Sometimes it's the tailor changing something automatically even though it shouldn't, and the cost can be removed by combing through the old setup and changing it back. Sometimes the introduced cost is completely unidentifiable and persists even if you load from an identical costume save.

Better lighting and a closer zoom for my apparently tiny fleet escort would be great. I haven't noticed the bogus charges,, but then again I haven't changed my ship layout in awhile, probably wouldn't care anyway, I need something to do with those EC's.

You did see where I said that I don't doubt there is a bug, but that I haven't seen it myself, right?

    Thank you

All great suggestions. Only issue I see at this point is finding a spot for them on the schedule. Try cross posting this to the engineering report and see if dstahl can help with that?

I have made those suggestions to QA GMs in game but I guess it doesnt hurt to have the in the engineering section too :)

Fully agreed. You either need an really biiiig screen or a really good magnifier to see pattern changes on escorts.

I have a 27" HP 2709 Monitor...when I mod my ships, I can't see them. I can't read the name on the saucer section even to give some perspective. Having a bigger monitor only makes it worse because there is a ton of room all around the vessel that it could (should?) be filling up.

I encountered just the opposite (I thought I could zoom my sip in further).

Aside from that observation, I agree - zooming in even further would be useful too.

I agree with pretty much all the 'fixes' presented in here. Just went to edit a ship since these changed and was disappointed at how much zoom I didn't have...

Though something else I'd like to see is a way to look at the 'editor' for a ship even if you don't have it, possibly through another option in the ship console stations that let you look up the stats of the ships in Earth space dock and Qo'nos...
