This is something we really dont need is the Furry gang all this will do is fill up the DS9 and the other out of place space station gathering places with catgirls in skirts offering poledances to a crowd full of internet pervs. I think its bad enugh that we got skirts in this game now. and soon to be risa bathing clothes.....
Are you this desperate at cryptic that u start to cater to the internet perves and sickoz?

Don't you dare to say a word against the most holy Caitians! Don't thou know they are the single most important species in Star Trek, if not all fiction?

    ...

At least, that's how people act. There are more topics about the - yet unreleased - Caitians than any other. No-one cares that Ferengi have wrong traits, that Tellarites still have height issues, that Rigelians have the wrong skin color, barely people get a dev reply about the silly, totally wrong Nausicaan and Klingon hair... Who cares? We get cat people! They had ONE on screen appearance, that so justifies to treat them as the only important species in existance.

You say all this now. But when someone you yiff with in the back of quark's turns out to be a 35 year old "dude" in the proverbial "mom's basement" ... you might meow a different tune.

You are assuming that everyone who wants this race (Caitians) is some furry fetish deviant who wants to "roleplay" with you AND your kids! You couldn't be farther from the truth. As far as I can tell, the most vocal people on these forums for Caitians aren't that type of people at all (myself included). That's not to say that some people in game won't do what you say, but if not with "cat people" they'll do it with Orion slave girls or Vulcans on the ponfar.

You will get your deviants whether you add Caitians or not. Also, I would like all the problems the OP posted fixed. If I ever play those races I'd expect them to be correct for myself and the playerbase. We are paying for this game after all.

All that being said, they (Caitians) are the pet project of the lead character artist so Caitians WILL be added so you had better get used to the idea of them being added.

And anyone who thinks they're not here already, without Caitians, hasn't been paying attention.

I don't really think this is an issue that requires attention. I have a character in a skirt but that doesn't mean I run around entertaining everyone else. As Itigaki once said, "I'm playing a game, what would I want to be looking at?"

Also, who is getting into a 'yiff' with other people. That's just weird.

Actually, I usually prefer for the deviants to be easily spotted. For now, I just watch out for Andorians in short skirts and near mail terminals.

For the record, I've seen a couple feline races roaming about, as well. Took the time and the imagination to create their beloved species because they really, really wanted to.

That's my main issue. Obsessed fans who lost all objectivity about the rest. There are indeed some people I believe when they say they are simply fans of a non-human species and wanna play it, but they are a minority. Most defenders of the Most Holy Caitians act like they are on a crusade and everyone not being 110 % for what they want is considered an enemy.

Those TRIBBLE Andorians! ...now I'm morbidly curious as to whether anyone's ERPed a balanced Andorian 4-way.

And yes, I've seen a few such creations myself. Good on them.

    - pat robertson said Haitians got hit by an earthquake because they have a pact with the devil.

    - iranian cleric said, earthquakes are caused by women wearing revealing clothing.

now, will Caitian (notice the name resemblance? coincidence? i dont think so!) females in revealing clothing cause massive earthquakes in STO? is this the downfall of humantiy? think of the children!!

(oh and btw, 35 yo living with their mothers dont scare me, im 37 and live with my wife, three daughters, and a female dog, i know what pain is)

M'ress has been in books and comics since TAS, so folks that read have been seeing her for years.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M'Ress

I don't want to play one, but I'll have a boff done up to look like her.

personally I can't wait for the new customisation options that the caitains will bring, dev post mentioned some pretty awesome things.

Besides that, cat people have been in Star Trek for years. And not just the Caitains.

Look at it this way... the more obscure the race is the less people will have to nitpick about. They are adding them because with any other well observed races they'd get 15 pages on how in the show their neck spikes went out at a 45 degree angle and not a 60 like the silly devs erroneously produced.

Watch me nitpick the Rigelians (3 ENT episodes). I have already complained about the wrong skin color palette.

And excuse me, but I'm a bit too old to watch and enjoy animated series with the fascination of a child, but my research says that the cat person in TAS was featured in 7 episodes only. Then you have the one background appearance in live action. That's not exactly a prominently featured species. Heck, even Pakleds had more episodes; 1 TNG + 18 background features in DS9.

By all means, get your Caitians. Just stop acting like they are the center of the universe and the ultimate Star Trek icon. They are not. They are a minor species with way less significance than you claim.

You can try again to convince me that they are 'just another species that has nothing to do with a furry fetish' whenever the 'Where are the Denobulans?!" extremists made their appearance on the forums, when the 'OMG How can this game not have playable Kretessans?!' rage began and the first handfull of players announced they cancelled their sub over not having playable Calnoth.

oh c'mon, those are cats.. of course they get more love than denobulans, most ppl like cats and deem them cute, thats not quite the case with denobulans.. i personally think tholians and horta would be much more fun, but hey, i already have two cats, i dont need them ingame, too... but just because ppl want to play catlike creatures doesnt mean they are all sexual perverts..

but now.. if you think of it.. furries are a huge market, especially in asia... maybe furries are exactly what we need to propel this game and get more subs? ;)

I'd like to see them added. :) I'd like to see all the Star Trek species added, eventually.

And if I just wanted to have furry cat sex, I could probably do so without paying $15 a month.

Edit: And I would expect Starfleet officers to behave with more dignity and respect towards other life forms.

I don't like cats. I like snakes and lizards. Hence I like Gorn and Letheans. But I don't play them because they are 'cute'. This is no pet shop, its a scifi game.

And if furries are what the game needs to get more subs... That's goodbye. I will cancel, and I doubt I'm the only one who would leave if their Trek universe is turned into a nekogirl zone. There are 2 types of furries - those that are into yiff and those that claim they are not. No-one can deny that this furry fandom thing has a reputation like a war criminal online - ask 100 people and 95 go 'eww animal TRIBBLE'. Not exactly the best advertising for a Trek game.

Technically the like of any anthropomorphic creature, which includes lizard people, would mean you are a furry. SO if you have an inclination to play Gorn and Letheans, you are a furry. Welcome to the club. Guess since you're a furry now all your friends can't hang out with you since you'll be trying to "yiff" with them. Or are you the type that just claims you don't?

Not a furry here... Just dating one. And doing so gives you another perspective on things. :)
aka not everyone are *censor* lil cats rubbing against your leg.
    Prejudice... Thats the word. Prejudice.

Co-leader of a certain fleet. *wink wink*
    So umm... Bye. *waves sadly*

And there are 10 types of people as well. Which kind are you? The one that don't or the one that claims they don't. ;)
