Whos still playing?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I have been here along time and was a founding supporter of Crpytic and STO ( I know that shoulds stupid now) However over the past week i have found myself not playing. My in game time was tapering off slightly but now i feel i have lost all drive to play. I took a quick look today (as run out of everything other than Kitomer to do) and i could not see anymore than 1 shard at the majortiy of sectors (Inc SB1) Has the majority of players come to the same end point as me after only 10days of the S1 content additions? I know space is supposed to feel vast and empty but this is getting stupid. I could not even get a PVP match running after 20 mins of trying and ou can forget a pubgroup for Fleet actions. My hope is fading fast for STO not to turn into CO. :( I feel this will be one of my last posts on these forums :(

I, personally, play a lot less time right now due to the season. Time I used to spend sitting in front of a computer is now spent doing yard work and other things outside. Weekend time I'd spend online is not replaced by other, outdoor hobbies such as golfing and tennis. I still manage to get 2-4 hours a day in MMO time (thanks to the fact that I'm retired) but I'd rather be outside sitting in the sun after a long winter then inside sitting in front of a computer.

I play when I can. Soon, due to jaw surgery, I'll have quite a bit of time. I am looking forward to it. I have a RA5 and a commander that needs attention.

I'm still playing several days a week. We do need additional content, I agree, but the Developer seem to be heading in the right direction (even if it is not always as fast as we would all like.)

But it's not really you. It's an anti-time future you. That had to go through the guardian of forever gateway to stop the mirror you from going into the past and tinkering with the alternate past you that sacrficed one of you to help bring peace between starfleet and the crimto.

I saw it all in Yesterday's LordofPit weekly episode.

I play as much now as I ever did, if not more so. My main Federation character has beaten Khitomer Accord and helps others get through STF missions, and is close to maxing out all 8 of her ships with purple gear. My secondary KDF character is about a day away from becoming a General. And I'm also involved in Fleet activities, leading Project Navras' Tactical Division. I'm really quite busy, all in all.

There may be less instances than when I started, but all the instances I play in have been well populated, to the point where I haven't really noticed much difference. It only takes a few minutes to get into my daily PvP matches. There's nothing major to worry about yet, and new content is well on its way. I'm not seeing a problem.

I've just started playing.... not sure if that counts.
Im only really able to play for 2 hours a day, and even then I take it at my pace. Im in no rush to get to the highest level ASAP. Every now and then I just arbly fly around admiring my ship (Miranda :( ) but my ship will change :)

I'm still playing a couple of hours per day, but whereas patrol missions used to be 'teamed-up' on a regular basis that seems to be the minority now.

Btw, when you used to change instance you would get a list to choose from. Not now

    *raises hand*

I'm still addicted to the game. I bought Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, and Left 4 Dead 2 at the same time as STO, and I haven't even taken those out of the wrapper yet! :D

I am still playing, also. Not as much as I would like as of late. I am probably averaging 2-3 hour maybe 3 days a week. Being a grown up = :(

I don't play as much as I used to, waiting on content, I still do a B-tran run every other day or so, I just don't want to get burned out, before the new contet hits later this year, I am giving the game a year to see where it goes.. :)

But I still have lots to do...I quit for awhile and have come back armed with hope..so just made admiral and have all the admiral stuff to do, then I figure I will make another toon (escort this time) and do all the stuff...then science.....then perhaps they will have my Klingon content available and I can finally do what I wanted to do all along.
    Suffice to say...I'm playing :)

Is this a joke thread?

No offense, but it seems a little silly asking whos playing when there is tens of thousands of people that still play every day.

Darn it!!!! I haven't even watched that episode yet! ;)

Well, this was the first me, and this is the second me... there's a third me, but he doesn't even know he's me... yet! Oh, and sadly... there is no mini-me and may never be... but that's another story altogether...;)

Still playing more than once daily, and with no end in sight yet.

Frankly I don't see the point in this thread, there's tens of thousands of players still playing, so what if only a couple post on the forums?

Where are you getting these figures from?? The forums have slowed so much now that you can post and it wont move for 2 days off the front page. There is no more than 1 or 2 shards active at almost every sector. End game i have seen 4 (today) thats 200 people only. People are still playing but the numbers are low and far lower than they should be at this stage of the game.

This form of thread would also normally get loads of hits with people defending the game and stating they are still playing .I have seen many before and this is in part the reason for me creating it. I want to personally gauge how many people are still playing as it is near impossible to tell in game and i flew two sectors today without seeing one person! I mean i was the only one in the shard and the other had 14 people in it!

It is also impossible to gauge the number of people playing via a forum thread. And unless you can be in every shard at every time of every day, that's hardly a viable show of what is the norm.

i estimate sto sold about 500k copies.

and since the free month finished and now. left we have about 20k subscribers and about 2k who play every night, because a correct figure is usually 10% of the player base logged in during peak times.

sto will probably announce team cuts in the near future to a skeleton crew, and then as they are unable to add any content, a few months after that the server will close.

i predict if not by the end of this year, then sometime next year sto will be closed.

and maybe in the future another studio will take a crack at it, or paramount will decide enough is enough for an online st game.
