we need not just front and rear arcs for firing but also side ones as well. As well torpss should be bought in quantities and which can run out. Thats what this game needs to be deeper...........
Dude i really like that idea of exhaustible torpedo inventory. That would defiantly give a more interesting fight.
Maybe they can take it further with refuel (dilithium) like voyager had to do every so often to replenish there energy reserves. would defiantly get you involved in the running of your ship.
Would make you think what supplies you will need before heading out.
absolutley your right. I remember when voyager had to go to grey alert. and entire mission was centered on refueling not fighting. Maby im taking this too far but it vould bring about mining and enhance the weak economy in this game. And I doubt it would be too difficult to do. Even if they just brought it up on the tribble test servers they could get some feed back of it in one sector or so at first
Well I know that they would not do the exhaustible fuel for ships... they specifically stated that a few times at trade shows... they don't want to bum people out when they fly off to go play with their friends and then run out of gas 2 sectors away from the nearest station...
The torpedoes would be a somewhat neat idea... but I would want to be able to hold a decent number of them or at least be able to replicate them too...
Exhaustable torpedoes would be nice. Maybe be able to replicate some if you run out but say only about 5-10% of your inventory. So if your ship was equiped with 300 torps then you could replicate 15-30. This way replication is not an answer but a fix (bandage) on the problem until you get to a station to resupply.
I did not buy a lifetime subscription to "Paperwork Online", otherwise known as "Star Trek Bureaucracy Simulator Online".
There are certain "realism" things that get sacrificed in order to make a good game. Micro-managing an inventory of weapons is one of them. If you want a pseudo-realistic economy with all the tinkering and micro-managing, then go play EVE instead of STO.
In general this game needs more 'complexity' .. I think cryptic made the wrong move trying to dumb it down to appeal to a broader base.. Look around, the broader base isn't playing.. only the diehard trek fans are.. Die hard trek fans like challenge, complexity and depth.
The SFC games were great single-player and competitive multiplayer games... but the last thing I'd want in a true MMO. All the necessary fiddling that made them great tactical simulators also made them less accessible to fans who weren't, well, as hardcore as us and not exactly a great vehicle for taking an hour out of a budy day to hang out with friends. I think Cryptic has done an excellent job with the abstractions in space combat.
