More PvP maps please

Hello everyone,

First off let me say I love STO. I am not what you would call a traditional MMO player. As a matter of fact I have only played the none traditional MMO's (WWII online & STO). I am more of the FPS player. I have been running large scale war sim tournament for almost 10 years for the company I work for.

As STO is what I call an action MMO we need more PvP maps. There is only a hand full of map that the community is playing. Here is a list of the map most played in PvP:

Salvage ops space 5v5 & 10v10
Ghost ship 5v5
Cracked Planet 5v5
Solar Wind 5v5
Assimilated Cruiser 5v5
Hostile Engagement space 5v5
Hostile Engagement ground 5v5

These maps are great and all but it's starting to get boring! We need more space & ground maps to fight on please. Some of the away mission maps would be great as PvP maps. As a moder and map maker myself (Battlefield BF42 thru BFBC2) I know these maps can be ported to PvP. It would be nice to have a few open ground maps (planet side) and not the same old same old of running around s ship or station. LOL we gamers we need some sun light.

Also on the PvP side, we could use some kind of audio queue set to go off when a PvP mission needs more players to start. Most times people don't look at the text chat unless they get the comm sound from a PM or a fleet message. Would be good to have an option for a team or fleet leader to use to send out a subspace message that player (name) (Rank) (Map) (Space/Ground) (open slots) needs reinforcements. It could be a computer voice making an announcement. Players would need the option of turning it off or getting it for only their favorite mode (Space or Ground).

What do you guys think? Do we need more PvP maps and would an audio queue help get the servers filled faster?

    Are you sure you wouldn't prefer starbases? Then, from this Starbase thread anyway, you'd get mining PvP, Trading PvP, as well as Starbase PvP. Each of these would be very different encounters, and instead of merits you could be stealing ore or manufactured goods. :D

    There is not enough Klingons to fill the current maps, adding more maps would just add to the time you had to wait for a match.

    i like shanty town, assimilated cruiser, capture and hold and "enemy mine" which no one is ever in

    I am SO sick of Cracked Planet, Solar Wind, Ghost ship & Assimilated cruiser.

    Shanty town, Enemy mine, Briar Patch I never see anyone playing :-(

    We have enough PvP...that is a dead dog....not enough players to fill the ones we have now...Hate PvP's anyway...bugged with stacking problems.

    hold the fort

    and a one on one option-

    when i am on a team of many i can usually convince them to take on a lesser enemy one on one or two on two (not as a fed tho i notice- feds are run in a pack and shoot)

    at any rate

    outside planet map and maybe if a team is outnumbered a robot or android ally or something

    Stacking problems? what is that? (do you mean team stacking?) Sorry I am not up on all your mmo terms. For ground PvP they should have went with an FPS view instead of the 3rd person view. I don't play the star cluster single player space & away team missions. I only play multilayer (PvP) and I see lots of people playing PvP they are just playing the same map over and over, so it's not dead IMO.

    You need two things, more players overall and a reason for people to jump into PvP. Starbases offer both, first they offer a lot for players to do (see the Starbase thread) so there's new goals that will keep people playing longer and it suggests that starbase PvP encounters provide greater rewards for players (e.g., both as bonuses for mining/crafting and for ultra-rare items that are otherwise unobtainable).
