Game Over

So, I really enjoy this game, but unfortunately, I can't afford the (ridiculously high, IMHO) $15/month fee to play. Am I the only one who thinks Cryptic is being a little greedy here? I mean, I've already paid for the game twice over, and I'm only at Lt. Cmdr rank. I would really love to keep playing, as it is a great game and I've enjoyed the time I've spent playing, but $15/month is way out of my budget.

So, I bid the STO Universe adieu for now, and I hope some day Cryptic will lower their fee to something more reasonable (or better yet get rid of it altogether). Until that day comes, farewell my fellow Trekkies.

Live long and Prosper :)

$15 is standard affair among MMOs. That being said, I think it is a bit steep for STO specifically. While it certainly has it's strenghts, STO doesn't offer the same massive experience that many other MMOs offer. Also, with the shockingly large amount of C-Store items being added all the time, it makes the subscription fee look even more unjustified.

P2P model or F2P model. Pick one, Cryptic.

Well 15 bucks a month is the average fee for MMOs. It comes out to 50 cents a day. chances are they won't go down from that. A little trick I had to do, ( back when I was younger before I could get a job ) I saved up every penny nickle, dime, and quarter that I had left over from dollars. at the end of the month I would have the 15 bucks, and I would trade that with one of my parents for use of their card. ( that changed when I got a job :D ) maybe you could try that, it worked for me for years. if you don't reach the amount you need, then you give a month off, and save it until you get what you need.

If you dont think the game is WORTH it, thats one thing. But $15 a month = 50 cents a day. I have a very hard time believing you really cant afford that. You probably couldnt afford an internet connection either if you couldnt afford the extra 50 cents.

it is pretty ridiculous, $15 for such little content and then they add content to the C-store

Granted the C-store is a little ridiculous, but that 15 bucks also pays for the dev team, marketing ( haha:D ), the over head, and the server farm. Personally I think 10 bucks a month plus the C-store would be good, but who knows, we mite not know how much it takes, and the C-store covers what the 15 doesn't. ( royalties to CBS maybe )

For the cost : playtime ratio, you can't do much better than an MMO. A movie is about the same cost for two hours of entertainment. I can't even remember how much my cable bill is every month. I know it is more than $15, though. I know for a fact it's cheaper than going out shopping during my free time.

    That's fifty cents per day.

I used to play a lot of Galaga and Ms. Pac Man when I was younger. They cost more to play.

    True story.

I think we've debated both topics the OP has volunteered to a great degree in other threads. Let's keep that there, please.
