Does STO go down on Tuesday like WoW does? I downloaded & installed the demo and the launcher is stuck at "Trying to update the launcher. Please be patient. Tried connecting # times" and never connects.
Having the same issue myself, i was at 10 times retried and have restarted it and am back at 9. Would love a dev post for a fix here or some bit of info from anyone as to a work around for this issue.
there is maintenance time between 3 AM to 5 AM PDT . But updating launcher can be stopped by problems of the program connecting to the net.
Blocked by firewall or antivirus programs, Problems with IE browser (as the launcher uses componets of IE even if you use a different browser) like it set to workoffline,
Patching is also uses port 7255 . the game uses ports 7000-7500 so if those ports are blocked or filter can cause problems.
Also if using win 7 or vista besure the launcher exe and gameclient exe are set to run as admin.
also do a tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com to see if you have a patch connection to the patchserver.
download and run nettest to do a quick check on a sample of the ports the game uses.
Nettest:
Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically
For good connections, column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). (also besure it is set to run as admin in vista and win7 and allowed by the firewall/antivirus)
)

Surely three people wouldn't appear within 10 minutes who have some kind of ninja-firewall blocking stuff without anyone knowing
