Is it just me or can anyone else not wait for functional interiors?

Seriously, it's such a pain to take up inventory with med packs and repair kits to prevent the death penalty and it would add so much flavour after a mission to go back to your ship and treat yourself and your crew in sickbay with a minigame or hopefully more. Dermal regenerators for plasma burns, synaptic modulators for concussoins. And even better would be engineering, after a long fight with a few deaths you get your hands dirty fixing up your EPS conduits or repairing matter-antimatter injectors.

Plus, it's annoying to keep buying the death penalty removers. I don't want to go back to no DP I just want to be an engineering captain and fix my ship myself.

Also another idea, what if only science captains could cure people in sickbay and engineers fix hulls, tac guys would need to get something to compensate but it would be a nice little addition if I had a science captain friend who could fix up my crew for free as I repaired his ship.

Honestly, I considered quitting, but the idea of interiors kept me on long enough to get hooked all over again. Bring 'em on!

I feel that the addition of interiors, if done correctly, will go a long way in removing the stark gap between your toon and ship... However, what I am most looking forward to is hopefully a deluge of quests and new quest types come July... but we shall see how that works out...

I can wait until Hell freezes over for ship interiors. The ONE thing I want is to define a shipwide uniform, separated by gender, so that I don't have to see my random crew in the generic Cryptic lounge jacket look.

If you haven't already you should see the "under construction" interior screenshots in the engineering reports.

I do hope the injury minigame in interiors materializes. I'm tired of running a net loss when being experimental on Elite.

While I figuratively can't wait for functional interiors, in actuality I'd rather wait and have them done well than rushed out and not terribly good.

Those look AMAZING! And I'm sure that the minigame will make a lot of people even happier about the DP. And yes they will have it, it is by far the most requested feature.

What they don't show is that your character only comes up to the first panel from the floor.

    ;)

They do look good though. Dig the curved corridor.

I really hope they add the washroom for the Ready Room. My captain really has to go after all this time.

Bridges and interiors will be scalable as I understand it with three size settings per bridge (most of them probably getting two smaller sizes than what we have now aside from the smallest bridges).

I think in the second picture the "Barn door" sized turbolift door is actually the same model but shrunk to fit into the smaller hallway.

IMO screenshots are some of the best things they could include in the engineering reports... screenshots help to encourage progress much more than just words... well as long as you are not Perpetual...

Reading the reports, they said those pictured interiors are too small for the game to handle combat on them in their internal testing. and the solution may be to scale them up for combat areas and/or reserve the scaled down versions for areas where combat can never occur.

Works for me, I don't necessarily like the idea of combat on my own ship.

I personally could not care less about ship interiors.

I doubt I'll ever use them, unless I get the chance to shoot boarders.

im looking forward to them but im in no great hurry. it depends on the functionality of them.
if you can go to a science lab and craft stuff, or go to sickbay and get healed, or go to your ready room and place in game trophies you have won, go to astrometrics and see a detailed map of the galaxy etc etc then it would be great

i also look forward to missions on your ship, talking to random characters and things

be nice if as your walking around one of your crew approaches you and tell you there are a member of section 31 or one of the feds temporal agents from the 30th century and that leads to a mission

or maybe you find someone murdered and you have to solve it, or find some strange lieform or anomaly in the cargo bay

Im looking forward to it but im also not getting very excited over it. My reason being there are a million and one ways they can severely TRIBBLE this up and frankly getting it 'just right' seems like a long shot.

I wouldn't be suprised if 'functional' to Cryptic is something completely different to what we want as a community.

Having said that im hopeful they will get it bang on first time and we are left with something enjoyable. Im just not holding my breath :)

Id actually say im more excited on EVE's avatar system (named Incarna now) than STO's ship interior. I actually think even as a lifer here once that is out im jumping ship. But still, suprise me Cryptic and give me something good :)

Nobody likes giant rooms/corridors and the ground combat does not feel like Trek and has been universally panned by critics.

I think the solution here should be to stick with the smaller corridors, and to completely redo the ground engine/mechanics so that they work with the smaller corridors AND are more interesting. I've said it many times before, combat in Star Trek resembles a cover shooter (wildly firing behind crates and all), and replacing the current system with a good imitation of Mass Effect/GoW would fit a lot better. Helll, it would be a lot of effort, but we know from Elite Force that Trek can work in an FPS also.

Since Cryptic is now doing all of this work with interiors, it is the perfect time to tailor ground combat to be more Trek-like (rather than putting Star Trek paint over generic MMO combat). The longer they create content for the current system, the harder it will be to tansition to a better one.

If they can do all of this and are willing to do so I will whole heartedly agree.

I do however like the combat system on ground but I guess if it was changed as you have suggested then it would actually be far better and more appealing to not just current players but 'would be' players too.

    Agreed. I cant wait!

    Long as:

We have LOTS o options to customize interiors and lots more!
We can asign a universal uniform for all our BO's etc
    Its transition FREE.

Also, if we have toggleable uniforms for crew members, I think they should also include the same functionality for other NPCs and even other players.

I mean, being able to design your own uniforms is totally fun, and adds to the experience. Having to see dozens of people running around in multi-colored outfits takes away from the Star Trek feel, but it's a good trade off. Being able to toggle a uniform code not only for your crew, but other characters as well is the best of both worlds solution.

I disagree with the toggable uniforms for other players but for crew members, that I think would be nice.

In a perfect world, I think you could toggle uniforms for crew, NPCs, other players, and fleet members individually. I mean, I'm sure that there a lot of more hardcore triekkies that would prefer not to see a rainbow of uniforms, and would find it a lot more immersive if there was a set dress code. I'm also sure that a lot of people love seeing a lot of variety. Personally, I would like to have a standard uniform for everyone but fleet members, but that's just me. In any case, I don't see any harm coming from allowing individual users to toggle how they see characters dressed since it doesen't influence what everyone else sees.
