New missions (Fed)

A lot of people are asking for more content oriented stuff. But all I see often times are people just saying, "we want more content". I'd like to get a thread going that will focus on just one part of this content. And that is mission ideas.

I'd like to get ideas that require something more then blasting everything to bits.

Courier Missions - Transporting drugs to a plague infected planet. Pick up the doctors that are going to help. Pick up the drugs. Go to the planet and start helping.

Transporting high ranking civilian officials, or ambassadors, to planets for whatever reasons.

Aid Missions - I know this is in game but its apparently hard to find planets that will request your aid. I also know there is a vendor in SOL that will tell you who needs what provisions. Need ideas to expand on this.

Evacuations - Planet is in the midst of an earthquake, need to transport civilians and officials to your ship. After everyone is aboard a medical check and then drop them off at a planet or with another evacuation ship.

Escorts - A ship requests an escort for a high valued item. There doesn't "HAVE" to be combat. Just the mere presence of a federation ship should be enough to thwart would-be pirates. If anyone approaches then they are hailed, scanned, and asked to leave.

There are a huge amount of ideas that I'm sure others can help think up just to help out. These are just a few I pulled off the top of my head.

Klingon ideas are more then welcome as well.

With the weekly episodes coming soon, I had a thought earlier about prospective storylines.

Now I don't know how these things are done; whether episodes have to be approved story-wise by a higher power, or whether Cryptic just make up whatever they want as they go, but it seems to me from my short time on here so far that the majority of the community here, whether on the negative side or positive side, all want to offer ways in which to expand and improve the game.

Now this may have already been said before, but why don't Cryptic challenge the player community to 'put their money where their mouths are' and submit prospective episode scripts.

The game writers could look them over as they would by any of the writing staff, and I'm sure a few gems would crop up.
If a decent storyline came along, and it was doable as an episode, and it made it to game of course, the creator could receive some kind of prize or something.

what the heck, they should make some more for klingon's
    we have to few..

i am grinding the same 6 missions. for exp.
and thats boring as hell. back n forth to the same place

    we go no variations.

let US. have some... before they need to change the name of the game to "STARFLEET Online."

get both sides.. or all sides..
contents wise, before making such an obsurde request !

Excempt if you have ideas for Klingon then by all means mention them. Reason I said Fed was cause I know very little about Klingons so I was keeping to what I know.

i think this is what the problem is... (at least how i see it) while the aid, evac, transport missions make good TV episodes, the devs just dont think we would find them fun to actually play through.

More content Star Trek is and always been heavy storyline. STO need to get grips with this fact. The crafting in this game is nothing more the a crapy badges system. That waste a ton of time.

50? I'm pretty sure there is five, if not ten, times that many. I've done fifty to get to lt.cmdr. I haven't played a klingon but I hear they don't have many.

As far as mission ideas go, I'd like to see a little thinking outside of the box. I understand that people don't always have an hour to contribute to the game, but our missions usually boil down to go here and either blow this up or scan this. Sometimes you talk to someone. A lot of the missions are very cool but I'd like to see some breaking of this mold.

I'd like to see more involvement in the missions. Right now we are just led around by the nose. This guy tells me to go somewhere(though some HAVE AMAZING navigation issues) and I go there. Someone else tells me to go somewhere else or do this. It's always extremely apparent what I have to do, I don't have to make any decisions.

I'd like to see more missions with consequence or multiple outcomes, even ways to fail. I'm supposed to defend this ship, but its invulnerable. Or I have to save these scientists because of a warp core going critical, but time isn't a factor. On some missions you can save or rescue people who aren't part of the mission, which I like. But it would be cool to at least see some acknowledgement afterwards, maybe a couple of merits for my sumeritan nature. Hell, if the mission is time critical I'd have to decide if I wanted to save this guy or complete the mission. The problem is you'd have to go back and affect the missions we already have.

Everyone asks for new content, but I think we should have expanded content. Perhaps even multiple ways to approach a mission. Instead of the regular 'blow everyone up', perhaps you have the option to try and coerce, intimidate or bluff. Perhaps the race you are talking to doesn't like Ferengi and your BO messes up the negotiations. Perhaps the enemy surrenders after witnessing your superior might. Maybe they are more likely to listen because you are in a science ship and therefore seem less warlike.

Some of these things just shouldn't be the default, some things can be situation dependent. Heck, you know what would be really awesome? If they could find a way to draw our characters in, have us meet a random character who claims to have been wronged by one of our BO's and demands revenge. It's just a normal blow stuff up mission, but it has better flavor. I've always wished I might come across my alien race on a mission. There is potential here if you just look outside of the norm.

A nice addition would be a specific career path.

As example, I play science, and I dont like running around shooting everything. Probaly the missions should be more career specific. As example you dont like diplomatics, exploration and talks, you play the tactical officer, that can run around shooting.

If you want to be the engineer your career goes more into the build up / fixing something direction.

And as science, you have to run medical supplies, explore strange things, analyze data. theres are many possibilitys when you have the opportunity of diffrent careers. Actually I dont know if this is possible at all...

But worth a suggestion anyway ^^

"Everyone asks for new content, but I think we should have expanded content."

    agree

    immersion as content

(as well as actual storylines of course- but it seems many just chew through those anyway)

but with the character creator they could have alot of fun with doing gvery little- ie- there is a percentage of a chance that when you do an aid the plague planet your crew turns old looking cause you got it- and you hvae to have the credits to fix it- or something

expanding the content - ie merchant class- traitors- (pvp) - holodeck/transporter mishaps- etc

loot becomes pointless- advance becomes pointless-

course i learned since oblivion to level slowly adat this rate it looks like i will never have to worry about actual stroyline content anywho- and they patch major changes to keep it fluid as well

    well, thats good.

hell fire.. i dont know. but all we got. is virtually all PvP quests.
    we have a few sectors.

why not add some spy missions for BoP like recon missions.
the only time the missions change is when u get promoted.

    but..
hell fire. give us some more solo quests. and more quests, that does NOT involve pvp, or fleet actions
i like PvP yes, but for klingon side there is tooo much..

there are alot of choices. like. collect resources u get from scanning.

PvP is slow. cause most Fed's r mission running. we cant do that as much
so why not add some Hard core. NPC' AI. units
    and i mean HARD CORE

not hard to kill. but who retreat. and run away. or use cloaks , in the tactical side..

or make / bring a type of weapons for the npc's like 10 standard disrupter cannon's VII or
something.. *but u wont get enough back. if u bough them to cover the cost that way*

you know there is a load of possible stuff that can be done.
    and it just isnt done..
    think about it.

they have an entire universe to go in / explore.
and an entire race. so there is research. or inventions / manufacturing. why not..
make some recycler missions. where u collect weapons of the enemys n such.

but thats a fraction... of the possibility

we klingon's are soo short of stuff 2 do.. its patheticly sad.
