Captain's Log, Stardate 201010.05

Today we beamed down to a planet in the B'Tran Cluster where a series of ancient alien beacons or markers were placed on the northern continent. However, we were not the only ones that found the markers interesting, as several teams of Crimto officers were also at the sites investigating them.

We approached and the Crimto researchers fired on us before we could offer to pool our efforts and share our research (as usual). We slaughtered all the Crimto research teams so they couldn't gather any information on these historical objects.

In hindsight, I wonder why we killed them all. Our phasers all have stun settings. I suppose it might have been that we never have a chance to talk to them, and that they never try to escape or surrender. If I could do it again, I'd probably wait for them to finish their research and depart so we could avoid a confrontation.

A terrible waste of life. I'd hope my crew and the Crimto could learn from the experience and we might make peaceful contact in the future, but I don't think I'll hold my breath. Even though we're only at war with the Klingons, we seem to be fighting everyone we meet, these days. Perhaps it will change soon, perhaps not. I suppose we'll see.

Log Ends.

    Captain Neish

Hello I'm Zodi Emish from Star Fleet Intelligence.

one thing you may not know is we get all of the captains logs here at the SFI, and we review them all.

well my aid was going over your log, and we came across a few shocking parts of it. You came across a group of hostile Crimto, and had to defend yourself. later on you stated in your log that you felt like it was a waste of life.

We don't feel the same way. you see that mentality would of been a good virtues back in 68, but this is 2409, and the universe is much different. We have the undine, borg, klinks, and many others who would love to kill you and your crew, and that mentality we feel mite make you hesitate, which could cost lives. we here at SFI can't even let the risk of that to happen, so we are resigning you. You are now no longer in command of the USS. Republic, instead the command will be given to your first officer. you will be transferred to the USS.Yosemite, Oberth Class Garbage scow currently stationed in sector 001. we are sorry about this, but if you prove yourself you may be able to earn your way back in to a better command, but for now you will report there at once.

Rear Admiral Zodi Emish Star Fleet Intelligence.

    End Transmission

( lol but really it is kind of silly all the death, did you try stunning them. I use it all the time, it makes me feel better, I stun them, and beam them to my brig, but we could attack that would put a buff on them so when they die, it is stunned. )

    Dear Captain Neish,

This is a heavily coded subspace burst transmission from Commander Drake, section 31. Don't bother checking us out, we check you out. This is merely a formality to belay the orders of Zodi Emish. You see, Zodi is an Undine spy planted in our intelligence branch.

You will keep your assignement aboard the Republic. You will however, have to keep a close eye on your first officer as Zodi has just blown the cover of yet another Undine agent.

If you ever have a face to face meet with Zodi, it is our recommendation that you terminate this spy with extreme prejudice.

We look forward to working with you some more. See you on the holodeck!

    Drake out.

I'd like to add that over the roughly three centuries that the 'stun' setting has existed, many races have built up a natural resistance to being stunned and so higher and higher settings have become necessary by 2409 which do, sometimes lead to unfortunate deaths or at the very least the setting only lasting a few seconds as opposed to the minutes it once did. Federation scientists are currently analyzing new possibilities such as the slingshot and the baseball bat.

    Dear Captain Neish

We were watching the sub space traffic, and we see you got a message from Commander Drake, and yes I know he called me an undine. Very few of us here at Star Fleet Intelligence know about section 31, and due to the nature of the organization my orders have been over turned. So you get to keep your command, and disregard the return order to sector 001.

As for the allegations that I'm an undine spy. That is just Drake trying to get back at me. You see Captain me and Drake were in the same graduation class back at star fleet academy. Well you see me and drake had the eye and the same fine lady ( name with held by SFI ). But both of us could not get the same lady. if you haven't guess it was me who came out on top. It must of been by southern charm. He since then has not forgotten, and has been out to ruin my reputation. Between you and me I think something is wrong with him, he is obsessing over a old love interest who has, sorry to say, died fighting the Klinks.

As you can see now you know why he would call me Tripod Scum, but i assure you I am not. I can even send you holophotos of Undine I killed myself. I have his head hanging my wall back in my home in Texas.

But back on topic, you get to keep your command, and Drake was making it up the undine allegations.

    Rear Admiral Zodi Emish out
    End Transmission

    Dear Captain Neish,

    Franklin Drake here again.

Since I know subspace lines are being monitored I'll have to keep this brief. There may come a time when you have to make a choice. A choice between shooting me and shooting Zodi. We here at Section 31 know you'll make the right choice.

We leave you with this final message, in code:

I never gave you an order to shoot Drake, once again his silly deranged games. But he is right, just like Section 31 is watching so are we.

    Captain Neish

I am Admiral Davis, and I have intercepted a number of unsecured subspace transmissions between yourself and two persons claiming to be Franklin Drake and Admiral Zodi Emish. I would like to inform you that neither one of these persons actually exist, and that you have been manipulated by unknown forces.

Regarding your original concerns about killing a science expedition, you made the correct decision to question this in your log. It has never been Federation policy to engage in unnecessary conflict for any reason. Unfortunately, our war with the Klingons, the return of the Borg, and the ever-present threat of Undine incursion has caused the entire quadrant to polarize into fierce "camps", each entirely mistrustful of outsiders.

The Federation Diplomatic Corps is working overtime trying to keep the quadrant from becoming one big warzone; however, they are understaffed and lack the resources to properly handle the growing tensions. Starfleet is currently working on a way to draft commanding officers as temporary emissaries of the Federation Diplomatic Corps, but it is still in its planning stages. We ask that you try to minimize your encounters with known hostile races until such time as you are contacted by Starfleet Command concerning your role in our diplomatic efforts.

If you have any further questions, please use an encrypted channel to contact Admiral Quinn at Starfleet Command. He can direct you further.

    1. It's not a waste of time if you're having fun
    2. I'm not an interloper, I'm setting the record straight ;)
    3. You do not need to use "OOC" (Out Of Character) if you are not actually formatting your response as a subspace transmission
    4. Yes, it is quite fun. ;)

This just in. Admiral Davis, a former member of the Borg Collective mind you, was last seen in the vicinity of the federation ship Dexter. With it and Davis' fate both unknown.

Section 31 will investigate. I may have to hop a shuttle to get out there. That could be hard, as the captain here is getting a little paranoid. And the Vulcans and Betazoids on board the ship have all come down with a strange psionic illness.

Regarding the previous communique you received from me, I have confirmed the identity of Admiral Zodi Emish through Starfleet Medical. His identity was removed from Starfleet record due to a highly classified investigation he is currently conducting. Knowledge of his existance is classified TOP SECRET: ADMIRALTY EYES ONLY, so you may not reveal his existance to anyone. Mention of his name without prior authorization is subject to court marshal.

Investigations into the person claiming to be Franklin Drake will continue.

    Dear Hu-mon Captain Neish,

I am Damon Con, of the Ferengi 'Almost second hand weapons guild' and after receiving a sub space communication to Starfleet (you forgot to untick the please pass on my sub space communication to a third part box) I believe we can come to a mutually beneficial arrangement.

I am pleased to announce that I have recently come into possession of some high quality weapon merchandise after an unfortunate accident involving a weapon shipment and a quantum torpedo. These weapons contain many settings and would greatly improve you ability to navigate the great material continuum safely for you and anybody that happens to be shot by you.

These can be yours for the low low price of 3 bars of gold pressed latinum.

As the 34th rules of acquisition clearly states 'War is good for business'

All transaction are final and a contract will be sent to you in writing 30 days after the transaction is completed, with a 29 day cooling off period from the start of the transaction. Never say the Ferengi are not fair.

I look forward to doing business with you soon.

    Damon Con.

p.s, no need to inform anybody else of this deal, certainly no authority figures as we don't want to delay the shipment by any unnecessary and overly restrictive customs red tape, you understand.
