At times i want to keep spare consoles and such in my inventory so I can customize my build for different situtations. For now its a PvE build and a couple of PvP builds.
For what ever reason, it just erks me to have to have these critical items inter-mixed with the expendables and soon to be replicated loot for credits. I think I have an issue with needing to sift through the inventory to find what I want and a fear i'll accidently replicate an important item of accident and not notice it.
I just wish we had a ship locker which was seperate from the inventory.
Or at least give us a way to lock items in the Inventory so that they can only be equipped, not moved or sold/replicated.
That way I can segregate these items in one section of the inventory and have them shaded or something for easy recognition.

They had that in early beta, with different sizes for escorts, cruisers, and sci ships.
Apparently people *****ed about it (I might have been one of them). I didn't want them to get rid of the compartmentalization, though, just the different sizes
While fitting canonically, I thought it was irksome that different ship classes had different amounts of cargo room when there wasn't an actual tradeoff in performance for it (and this not being a game of freight and economics like Eve that's as it should be) and, besides, the junk in our inventory should mostly pale in comparison to the basic ship stores for travel and combat which would varyingly fill the varied cargo space.
A place for stuff you want to keep, but not in the bank.
I don't mind if it takes away from existing inventory slots. Maybe a right click and check "To Keep" or "To Sell" but maybe cooler terms to suggest those two categories.
I like this idea for not only the examples stated here, but also tribble breeding.
Even just a small compartment of 8-10 slots would be awesome.
Tribble breeding is a pain. You need somewhere to keep the breeding stock, and somewhere different to keep the food. And then you need a third place to do the actual breeding.
I keep my stock of tribbles in my BOs device slots, which works, the only downside is the sound of tribble petting that follows me as I do away missions.
Great idea. Perhaps when they introduce ship interiors, one of the locations will be a locker room or cargo bay where we could store personnel or ship equipment. That would be awesome.
That is a fantastic idea!!! Every single storage space I have is maxed out... and like a few others have mentioned, I like to hold onto extra console and the like, to switch between, depending on the situation.
I'm also a pack rat. I need storage space. I think personally once ship interiors is added, we should have a way to access our bank from the cargo bay or ready room. Even right now, we should have a way to access our bank from the bridge.
I think all storage and mail should be accessed through our ships. Ships should come with a cargo bay, AND WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPAND AND BUY MULTIPLE CARGO BAYS for extra storage.
Mail should certainly only be avail;able from inside our ships.

That's a really good idea.

That way its not actually stored on the ship...even let the "transactions" to and from the Bank using the replicator cost energy credits if necessary.
