SO I myslef like i can see many many others, who quit after the 1st 30 days came back for the free week end. Well I tryed it, and i just gotta give some construvite feed back, ill try not to put this as flames or wut not...
I loged in the game to see Zone chat still the same, in fact it was worse then before
(is the game really that bad now a days?)
I was thinking meh, so i used up my spare c points and bought me a new ship model just to have the game use my points and not change anything so i just shruged and loled.
When it came to me the off duty uniforms! I was thinking these things would be cool..... SAdly i had another lol, most of them were rip offs from City of heros, outfits lol and the other half looked like romulans uniforms from the show.....
So i go out on my grand wellcome back adventure just to still get randomly sucked into a DSE np im Ra5 and im still in the noob zone so i just blow the ships up and warp out.... (still spawning where the cpus spawn with the risk of zoneing in dead... lol)
As i go on i tryed this diff slider and tryed a noobie patrol mission and got a very good laugh.... It just made there shots hit harder and them have more life, there AI didnt go up the fights were still easy and still bland >.<
I pull myslef to do the daily missions in braton (how ever you spell it) Yay another 5 badges >.<! lol
So the last bit on my stop are these new STF's ive herd so much about, i really had my hopes up for this i get there and wut do i see?! 10-15 ships outside each STF with constant spam of LFG etc, etc, etc, so i waited there joined in the spam of looking for a team.... 30 mins later i said frak it and gave up. and just flew around wondering ok now what?! I have 3 ra5's all of them obtained b4 my 30 days were up infact had em with a week to spare b4 my 30 days ran out, and i regret playing in head start and beta, for they were so easy to lvl....
With what llittle i can make out in zone lvling is still lol easy, and ment for people who can only log into the game for an hour every 5 days >.< sigh but lol!
So im left with..... This is it? is there nothing more?! I still feel like im joined with the terran empire. I still feel the class imbalnces (spelling?) im still bored. I have the feeling if i would of gotten to do the STF's they would of been only 1 time things with no drive to ever do them again...
So after all this time you invite us back to show us TRIBBLE in a new wrapper from a diff view? yup sorry its still TRIBBLE... ill leave off with this,

I have long had this theory that game players don't quite understand the full scope of limitations that they face when fighting computer controlled opponents. So I'd love to see some examples of what you find adequately challenging from computer foes?

The biggest change in the game is related to what you can spend those badges on now.
Is this all is there nothing more?!
You missed a couple things, but for the most part yes.
What types of things would you rather see they add?

ps. and the klink side is still pretty lol
Also since ive been gone ive saved some gem threads the following still sums up my opion on STO
why is there so much negative feedback and hatemail form th player base here on the forums....
to put it bluntly, Cryptic did not deliver what they said they would. They rushed the game and delivered an un-finished product.
many Fed players have said in response to KDF players cries for 'more content!' that the faction always was intended to be strictly PvP based, nothing more. SIMPLY NOT TRUE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcAn3...eature=related From an interview in Aug. '08, a month after CS had acquired the rights to make STO. go to around 1:50 of the Vid.
also, here's a look at what crafting and economy was suppose to entail in STO. Taken from another Aug. '08video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCWrbXOEAZQ&NR=1 it's right there, at the beginning of the Video. later on, at 2:15 seconds, you'll note clearly the release date for Champions Online is stated at being April '09. This will come into play later, but is further varified on the CS homepage at http://www.crypticstudios.com/index....y_current=2010
also, around 30 second into the video in the next link, we are told that ship interiors would be expanded from not just Bridges, but Engineering sections, Medical Facilities, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a7l20sa8TA&NR=1
furthermore, we are told that crafting and economy are going to play a much larger role than what they play at present in STO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBx0FYirKvo&NR=1 FF to around 4:25. It is of interest to note, that the game is not meant to be 'pvp centric', but prior to infected, what exactly was the end-game content? you guessed it, PvP.
these are all words directly from the mouth of Chief Creative Officer Jack Emmert.
so, why were these elements not included in STO at launch? why didn't they postpone relase until the game was really finished? as noted above, Champions Online was scheduled to release in April '09. It did not release until Sept. '09. The release was pushed back 7 months. Why wasn't STO?
The answer is simple. Money. The following is taken from this link (go to the top of page 3) http://www.alltern8.com/library/mmo_...em/l-4840.html
A bonus for a maximum amount of USD 20 million (i.e. approx. EUR 15.7 million) is to be paid in cash or Infogrames stock (at the option of Infogrames, subject to the shareholders approval), if Champions Online and Star Trek Onlines 2010/2011 online revenues over perform revenues targets. This bonus is to be paid on August 2010 and on May 2011.
Cryptic had a $20 mil bonus coming from Atari, but it had to be out by August '10. If they had post-poned the release 7 months, as they did w/CO, guess when it would have been released? Aug. 2010. Coincidence?
In the end, Cryptic chose their wallets instead of the satisfaction of it's customers. They fully intend you to keep subscribing for at least the next 6 months, by which all the content that should have been included at-launch will have been released, because that will further secure their bonuses. And they can continue to say, 'we're giving you guys free content! we're fulfilling our promise!' But they're really just finishing the game.
but for what it is now, a still yet-to-be-finished product, it plays as any other MMO with a Star Trek Skin. and the upcoming Klingon content is just Federation content with a Klingon skin. This is exactly what Jack wanted to avoid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcAn3...eature=related go to 6:55
i guess that's why we don't hear too much from Jack anymore....
basically, players can't entrust their money to a company that has already let them down.
This is NOT a troll or QQ thread, all Im trying to say is, if you want to really know why people are getting mad at Cryptic and leaving STO (besides the Salegate Fiasco) there it is, right there.
I would have been glad to have waited another 7 months to play STO if it meant we would have gotten-
1-a fully finished, fully realized Klingon faction
2-Proper End-Game content in full at launch
3-Crafting and an Economy of substance-mining facilities, player-crafted space stations, the ability for players to craft entire starships.
4-More ship interiors (Engineering, Medical, etc.)
5-A finished game that has enough gameplay, crafting, and economy, that it actually adds something to the End-game that competes with raiding.
In your vast experience with video games ... of all genres and types ... can you give some examples of artificial intelligence? How it works better? And differently?
I have long had this theory that game players don't quite understand the full scope of limitations that they face when fighting computer controlled opponents. So I'd love to see some examples of what you find adequately challenging from computer foes?

Well to put it mildy a 2v6 comps on starcraft battle.net provides more fun then the eleite setting on the slider in terms of skill being used. theres no skill still invloed on these missions in sto its Still go kill 5 squads of this or go press f next to the glowie 5 or 6 times
Just a little note if you ever come back; the ship skin you bought needs to be applied in the ship editor. the purchase adds the components under the advanced menu.

But the artificial intelligence being used in both encounters is not advanced enough to fit the complaint. The computer enemy just follows a script. I don't really see how your complaint pertains to Artificial Intelligence.
Go kill 5 squads is something you find boring. I get that. But even if they change the script of what those 5 squads do ... the premise is still go kill 5 squads. So eventually you'll get bored of it.
That's not artificial intelligence. Neither STO nor Starcraft employ any really strong examples of AI.

But in starcraft the cpu uses plans and all the units skills to the upmost, STo the bad guys just charge head 1st in on you heck id love to see them use ALL there skills to try to kill you and not just try to brute force you down...
Starcraft did it and still does it and its almost 20 years old now? 15 or 20 cant remeber

Just 12 Years and the SC AI is bad! Whatever....it seems its not ur game...stay away till July (Season 2) und then try to be more neutral when logging in.

They do use all their skills. In fact, one of the tweaks that would help is if they made it so the Mobs did not SPAM their abilities. That being said, they're trying very hard to kill you.
Starcraft did it and still does it and its almost 20 years old now? 15 or 20 cant remeber
But in Starcraft, you didn't have some of the options you have here. The comparison is interesting, but will fall apart the closer you explore it. An RTS and an MMORPG have certain mechanical differences. So I think we need to just keep it light there. And look at the more basic things going on.
The enemies in STO do follow a plan. A script. They are similar in that way. Some changes could be made there. I do think there are some distinct differences that might be getting overlooked. If you notice, when you fight Cardassians, they never engage in melee combat unless you engage them first. Romulans can be the same way. In fact, Romulan commanders are tricky because they use shield generators, and replenish shields and have medics. You have to use tactics against them. Klingon Swordmasters charge you firing dual pistols, but then engage in melee.
The enemies in STO are using varying tactics.
One basic way of looking at it is ... using Chroniton Mine Barrie is a bad tactic against Romulans. A good tactic against Klingons.
I just don't think the mob scripts really qualify as artificial intelligence. In either game. They're just programs. The enemies are following rigid programs. Pretty basic ones too. They don't adapt. They don't learn. They don't even react. Your Starcraft enemies had the same shortcomings. The experience netted different results though, because the game is a different kind of game. Blizzard's own MMORPG has the same basic, easily outwitted, easily manipulated Mobile Object Scripting and Pathing issues. So I'm not exactly impressed by that company either.
Just 12 Years and the SC AI is bad! Whatever....it seems its not ur game...stay away till July (Season 2) und then try to be more neutral when logging in.
And You have STILL not 3 Admirals!
The big problem I see is that Atari /Cryptic has no concept of time or what is considered new content. This welcome back weekend might have worked out if it was for the Season 2 content in July. Nothing added to the game is new content. Just re-worked old content. That is why all of these attempts to bring players back after a month or so fail.
They need to wait for real change. Six months would have been better than 3 to bring players back. Same thing for salegate. The price decrease and added months could have been at the same time as Season 2 and a real welcome back weekend. This is just another sad move by Atari. Wait for the fixes and new content. THEN have a welcome back. This is sad, just sad given the IP.
So i go out on my grand wellcome back adventure just to still get randomly sucked into a DSE np im Ra5 and im still in the noob zone so i just blow the ships up and warp out.... (still spawning where the cpus spawn with the risk of zoneing in dead... lol)
Troll FAIL....RA 5 will not be pulled into a noob zone DSE......You can even chase them down, and you won't get in, most of the time. You have to wait until they are actively open, and then head straight into them to enter.
if it is true that you have 3 x RA 5's in the first 3 weeks of the game, then that is your own foolishness for power leveling and then crying about lack of content.
It took me close to 5 weeks to get one toon to RA 5, playing about 2 hours per day, and slightly more on weekends.....But then, I have a life.
Even after hitting RA 5, I still find a lot to do in this game, beyond just running B_Tran missions. But, then again, I have a fleet to do events with.
When all of the missions are done, and I have upgraded my ship or trained my BO skills, or any other activity related to the emchanics of the game.....I sit back and chit chat with my fleet mates on vent or on the chat channel.....But, once again....I know how to play an MMO, and I have social skills.
yup oh really what do you think ive spent my time yesterday doing on my wellcome back?
And you did 'infected' on the 4th of March ( or the 3rd of April, I have no idea how you yanks make up random numbers to signify dates ) which I believe is "one of those STF's you heard so much about"
And your admiral does not appear to have done anything since.

He has one Admiral unless he deleted the other two.
He also hasn't completed a mission on any of his characters since March 4th when he ran Infected so I doubt his claims that he checked anything out this weekend.

Woa.... lying on forums!?!?!!
What has this world come to?
seriously does no one have any honor these days
The Store is Cryptic Style!
And whatever this weekend was....fail, success or just nothing in your eyes...if 5 of 100 ppl will come back for a period of time...they win!
And your admiral does not appear to have done anything since.
to answer your question about RA5 toons it was most likely made up to make his fail post better. just look at the link above.
you don't think Atari has any influence over its own company?
Praise the Captains Log!
He doesn't. Follow this link and read:
Eheh!
Now I say good day to you all.
I said "so much"!
I think most of that money still goes to Cryptic...just my thoughts.
