The Galaxy-X Referral Stampede, Day 3

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
SO, having seen so many people pounding for referrals to get one of the first Galaxy-x starships, how many people are really doing this and how many people think this the end of STO Civilization as we know it?

All I can think of are those black and white film shots of "the last land Grab" here in the United States. Everyone running off to get their 40 acres.

Very Entertaining.

To grab a quote from the wrong canon, "That's hardly the word I'd use for it."

I just can't understand why people are so nuts over such un ugly ship. 3-nacelle designs are horrible...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I cannot understand why i see fugly cryptic ships flying around. However, the ship designer obviously thought they were fine, and they certainly passed CBS's approval.

I happen to really like the Galaxy X design, even though it isn't as sleek as most ships i've seen in the shows.

I dont have the friends with interest in a game like this, and I rather spend my money on other things than a ship.
    This isnt a C-store purchase but a ~$220 if you look at buying 5x games @ $30 and 5x 1 month subs @ $15.

I know people that have a ton of money will probably do this, spend the money themselves, but I certainly will not be one of them. I wish it wasn't referral program only, but oh well.

I agree here... hmmm for $80 more you can just buy a lifetime sub, which will most likely last until they release an even better looking and more nostalgic ship for much less money.

    I don't have an issue w/ a 3 nacelle design, I do hate the galaxy x though.

I don't really care about the ship being a reward to those who are crazy enough to purchase 5 separate accounts. I'm just against the ship being allowed to be used in future PvP since it effects the game play and balance of PvP, even if just minor. The Galaxy X's unique cannon that can shoot an AoE cone and shoot through objects that players might use for cover, will be an advantage that Klingon Players won't also be able to match. The ship also will have a cloak which was an advantage the Klingon faction was already balanced to have.

So if they made the Galaxy X a PvE only ship, then it's a peachy expensive reward for those who don't mind blowing money on 5 accounts for a month. But if allowed to be used in PvP, then they're going to have to come up with a Klingon version of a reward ship that somehow keeps the PvP balance they decided to go with.

So Sorry, you missed an important detail in the promotion. BOTH FED AND KLINGON FACTION CAN CLAIM THE GALAXY-X.... in other words, Klingons will be flying around in fed ships. It's the Fed that will be dis advantaged in PvP, becuase they will have more difficulty telling their friends from this foe.

Didn't think of that, did you ??

Please tell me you're making that up.
Because if not, that's so stupid I'm going to have to go drink until I forget about it.

Well there goes all of the immersion as far as role-playing and lore is concerned eh?

So sorry. THAT'S IN FACT THE FIRST I AM ACTUALLY HEARING ABOUT THAT..... in other words I just looked at the promotion page and it says nowhere on there anything about Klingon's having access to that ship reward. Not that I doubt you, because I couldn't see why you would go and make something so dumb up, but do you have a link of where that was said and confirmed? Because if that is true, then that is an even BIGGER reason why that ship should be a PvE only ship. Not to mention it makes absolutely no sense at all. I know that the Holographic BO is for both Fed and Klingon players, they make a point of specifically saying that in the promotion page. But nowhere on there do they say the same about the ship.

How am I supposed to think about that? It's the first I'm hearing of it.

Didn't think of that, did you ??

Everyone's going to have their opinion on the Galaxy X one way or the other just the same as anything else in the game. If you like or want the ship, go for it. If you don't then that's just as valid. I don't like some of the ships Cryptic has designed and refuse to fly them, for example and that opinion is just as valid as anyone else's opinion for the Galaxy X. I don't really mind the referral threads, either, as long as they don't get out of hand or start breaking rules. They're easy enough to ignore.

People with a Galaxy-X should be shunned.

    Honest fleets will kick them.

There isn't an honest method to get one.

Not in front of me, but it was on this forum in one of the threads. I would find it, but it would be quite a search at this point.

wow this is really TRIBBLE, the nacelles create a positive and negative circuit to create the warp field thats why there are always 2..... or 4 etc... they work in pairs....

Yes i know its all made up, but this 3 nacelle design doesnt follow tecno-cannon at all....

That's the wrong way to look at it. Don't blame the people trying to get a ship they like for Cryptics mistakes. And it doesn't affect you what other people do.

Unless you go by the argument that there are two pairs of coils in each nacelle with equals six coils in all and thus balances out in them being paired.

    Paraphrased from Wildcat86

People with a Galaxy-X will be found in every fleet, and even build excluive ones where klingons / other feds fight against 5x Galaxy-X with cloak... God help the first ship that gets hit by a syncronized 5 ship blast from that new gun...

Honest fleets will accept that they are there, and probably do nothing.

at least obtaining the ship is an honest method, compared to the people whom banked-up +30 Science Consoles and are now selling them for 3-10 million each on the exchange.

Good luck getting five slow-turning cruisers with massive cannons with a 45 degree arc to be able to synchronize their turn rates and firing rates to hit a planet at the same time much less a Klingon BoP! :D

Not the end by any means. It is for those wearing tin foil hats though. They should be very scared. It is not the end. Just a poorly conceived RAF. Nothing wrong with RAFs just this one could have been handled better.

I think he was talking about the Klingon Carriers, which really wouldn't be all that hard to do while cloaked.

Maybe, but I think there will be a 'charge time' on the cannon along with a limited amount of time between turning off the cloak and being able to fire.

Even funnier will be when the person who spends over $200 buying 5 accounts, thinking they're getting an "uber ship" nobody else will have, finds out the ship got nerfed or put up on the C-Store and they can't get a refund on 5 used retail boxes. :D
