Can you make the star in a system look like a real star

This is a very minor thing and it might have been mentioned but can we please get the sun in a system to glow like an actual star. I hate to keep using eve as an example but they do a systems star very well.

At the moment its just an orange circle in the sky, but a real shining star would add tremendously to the graphics and feel of a system.

Yeah I agree there is so much about space I want changed.

The million astroids in every system
Two or three variations of the same planet
Inability to orbit planets. etc etc etc.

I agree, it would be nice to see a better looking sun. Although I can't say I spend much time looking at them so it really wouldn't matter to me, as long as its not a solid color circle lol

i have to agree on the asteroids, at first it did not bother me but now it feels like someone scattered the remnants of romulan home world across the galaxy

they can certainly brighten them up with ease, some planets glow a lot more like suns than the suns themselves in some cases.

I will agree. I feel the graphics for the most part are so nice to look at. But I am finding that same red space dust cloud in every other system. The odds of that occurring are astronomical hehe

also a few systems with just a plain old star filled background with no nebulas or space dust. i do like the bright coloured backgrounds but occasionally a plain one will do fine just fine

it really irks me when people complain about all the asteroids, has nobody heard of the kuiper belt? contrary to popular belief, our solar system isn't just occupied by a star and 8 planets, there are literally thousands and thousands of space junk out there in our system.

the kuiper belt surrounds the entire solar system at great range, most of what we see in the game orbit the planets themselves.

i was on your side at first, almost every system has these bits and pieces floating around but they would not show up in the concentration that STO shows them up as. most would be miles apart from each other.
STO also seams to have them around every planet in some form or another and not just in its equivalent kuiper belt. whilst a lot of planets have a ring (even if its incredibility faint) it would not be as pronounced as this game shows

also we are talking from a cosmetic point of view. does not really matter is that is how space looks or not, constantly seeing asteroids everywhere is just annoying.

i believe the kuiper belt is inside the system, the oort cloud is the one outside the system

ahh yes, though either way the point stands, neither orbit the planets themselves.

EDIT: just to note i have actually seen some improvement in this area. i'm seeing many new planets and quite a few either completely without asteroid fields or ones with very fine rings that are just a nice visual rather than anything to play hide and seek in.

As I understand, the asteroids primarily exist to give a sense of where you and that you are going somewhere.

Maybe asteroid fields that are not quite as dense could work, too?

The X-Wing series of games used something like "mini-asteroids" to convey your speed. I-War used a lot HUD enhancements to convey speed. IIRC; it were basically virtual points that served as reference points. Almost like the stars in Warp scenes in the show(s).

So you want to be blind?

Maybe if they do this, I can put my plants in front of my TV instead of the window. hmm.....

Maybe all the asteroids and rings around planets is debris from the aftermatch of the hobus supernova? :p

How about actually making Star SYSTEMS look like star systems? With a central star, or a binary, trinary etc. star systems, planets that orbit around them in a correct paths; moons that orbit planets in a similar fashion (no actual moving required, just positioning them in scientifically and physically logical way), asteroid belts etc... And a better system map, with all those orbits, planets and moons shown (or maybe after we chart the system by visiting various objects in it...).

Now wouldn't that be what Star Trek explorations is all about? I've made a few posts on this, but no dev seemed to notice it.
