Since we cannot have STO discussion in the STO discussion forum anymore...

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
An increasing trend of threads are being moved faster than people can post them.

Where are they being moved from:

STO Discussion forum

Where are they being moved to:

A farm up north where they go to live peacefully (die)

If we are not allowed to have threads that pertain to STO discussion in this forum anymore than what can we post here that wont be immediately moved out of forum?

Timeline:

Post thread

100+ posts in over an hour

Moderator decides to move STO discussion thread to another area of the forum

Thread quickly dies and no posts are ever made it the thread again...

Profit?!?!

From a returning players prospective it looks like they are trying to keep the new people from all the blue names--your threads seem to be getting axed alot

i must say from every post it is clear you dont like the game very much why do you stay? and if you dont play why even come here the game is no consern to you any more since you dont play. your threads at first were at least amusing in thier sillyness but now to see them just irks me. you sir are one of a buch of people that in most casses do not come here to make things better but to just raise people anger, so do you get some kind of thrill from this i ask myself. so if you find most of your post going away fast id say that tells you somthing. finaly people are getting sick of your rants and are taking action. i say good for them

In all the forums I use the General Discussion forum is for topics that don't fit into another forum. There are several forums forums for giving feedback on the Star Trek Online forums which should be used to give feedback.

I generally don't read feedback topics. I don't really care what a fat teenager that spends all his time in his mommy's basement in Milwaukee playing MMOs thinks about some obscure feature of the game. So for me moving these topics from general discussion is a good thing.

Of course your mileage may vary.

I decided to take you seriously for a moment. So I pressed my back button and looked at the STO discussion area. Yeah.. you are correct. Nobody can discuss STO anymore. All the threads are gone. It is a ghost town. Why hadn't I noticed that before? Have I been talking with myself in these forums?

It is funny how some folks can complain in one breath about how there are tons of the same type of threads in these forums and how annoying it is then when things are cleaned up they complain how they are being silenced and how it is a big conspiracy to quell the rabble-rousers.. hehe. Funny stuff really. Double standers are interesting.

Good for you. I will....grudgingly......admit. Even though I never agree with practically everything you say. Your posts provided a bit of comic relief to this forum's typical serious "I am on a mission from GOD because STO SUCKS" threads. Take care and return soon. Come see us for season 2 or 3 please.

we have to make sure that new players coming to the most popular forum because it's busy and marked 'discussion' are helpfully directed to the threads where the actual discussion on the true state of the game are now festering with no posters.

I agree to a point that many threads discussing different aspects of STO get moved tooo quickly to sub forums where people seldom go.

Nope, I do believe they have sorted those away too.

Furthermore, they left a thread that discusses a frustration with those type of posts.

Everything that isn't blowing sunshine up the posterior orifices of Cryptic will be moved off to it's own "ghetto" WAAAAY down there at the bottom of the page so we hope no one reads it.

I guess that's better than mass deletes and bans for dissent, but only barely.

    Have my support too.

That is EXACTLY why they did this.

They, of course, had this "please come back" weekend FAR too soon for it to do any good. The earliest this game will be viable from a systems point of view is post Season 2. That is, if the features in Season 2 don't start going to the bin.

The game simply hasn't changed very much since the initial susbcriber who quit had their 30 days run out. Almost no content has been added. No ships have been added outside the C-Store, and there is only slightly more to do at RA5 than then.

In fact, I will argue that trying to lure players back now is a mistake because they will see this and may not bother a second time after Season 2 or 3.

I 100% agree with this. I don't know why they chose now to do a free weekend. After season 2 or 3 would have been a much much better idea. Obviously someone in their marketing department needs 5 hour energy. hehe

If anyone in this marketing department does 5 hours of "real actual work" (to use the Office Space line) in a week, given the continued lack of anything resembling cognitive THOUGHT, I will eat my shirt.

Cryptic has a serious problem with their marketing people, which they not only won't stop or correct, they continue to allow them to increase the damage they are doing to customer relations.

Best thing they could do to boost the morale around here would be to announce public ally the sacking of the whole marketing division.

The Devs themselves I have some faith in. Which decreases as people like Gozer leave and are replaced by no-names. This will only increase over this summer, the talent that is good enough to land a job anywhere they want will leave before the trainwreck happens.

Although I do not subscribe to the "this game is doomed" mentality. I do agree with you that their marketing department defiantly leaves something to be desired. And the departure of Gozer is a sad thing to be sure. Your idea to sack the whole marketing department I can get behind that. hehe.

    Maybe, just maybe...

If you learned to post in the proper threads, this wouldn't happen.

Starting a new thread just because people stopped posting in an older thread with the exact same topic is what an attention "horse" does.

They stopped posting because the subject is stale, or a non-issue, or they got tired of dealing with the same forum trolls day after day, watching them stroke each others ego.

Everybody playing the game realizes that it needs lots of work, it needs content, it needs end-game, it needs bug fixes, and it needs a lot of other things.

But stating that over and over again like a broken record is not constructive, it helps no one, it doesn't make the devs work faster, and it certainly does not make you look wise and scholarly...

I will now leave you, to post in whatever non-constructive manner you choose, I am going to go enjoy my game and (if I can) be helpful to others.

    Peace on you

Is the game doomed? No, it isn't, it's not too late to fix things, we aren't even 6 months old yet.

However, I will state that the game IS doomed unless there are structural and philosophical changes in management.

The Dev direction seems to be sound, Seasons 2 and 3 will add a LOT to this game, that frankly, in all honesty, SHOULD have been there before launch.

What needs to change is the management that allowed this game to release BEFORE that stuff was in place, and the marketing people who seem to think the best way to do their job is to irritate the whole player base every 2 weeks with ill conceived scheme after ill conceived scheme. Whomever thought of and (poorly isn't the right word) executed the "Advisory Council" debacle should have arrived at work on Monday with the stuff from their cube in a box waiting for them at the front door.

That this has not only not happened but they are continued to allow to work on new ill-recieved schemes (Galaxy X) definitely proves that management (Needham and Emmert) does not have a CLUE as to what will sustain this game, and what is and is not acceptable practice.

They also need to start offering just as much new stuff in game as they do on the C-Store. Or, alternatively, allow in game achievements to earn C-store points.

Although I think the c-store is okay for some items. I 100% agree that they need to give us A METRIC TON more in game items before they give us anymore C-Store stuff.

    My theory:

The deadline for their bonus is coming up, and they haven't made the quota yet.

If I remember correctly, the bonus is due in July. So the cutoff is probably May or June.

Waiting until after Season 2 for this free weekend would be too late.

    Just my theory.
