Feedback on the Latest Engineering Report...

There are a couple of things in the latest Engineering report (read it HERE) that I want to comment on:
Season 2.0 - July
  • Klingon Episodes
  • New Enemy Group to the Klingon Faction
  • Klingon Costume Customization Updates

I am greatly looking forward to these Klingon additions. Right now, it feels like I only have part of a game, due to the Federation being the only faction that really feels complete. Adding this content (I hope it will be top class) will go a LONG ways to making the game feel like a full release product for me, AND if it is good enough I will not longer have reservations about trying to get friends to play. I am looking forward to playing a Klingon through some story missions, so much so that this is the one reason I have waited. I want to grow my character as I experience the episodes.
...Aftter the last release, we realized that there were some bugs and changes that you had commented on that went live without changes. We are working to improve the release process and to keep features on Tribble longer to work out kinks and react to your feedback and comments.

Thank you, I appreciate knowing that our voices were heard. Making sure that player submitted bug reports are addressed as much as possible (nobody is perfect) before release makes testers feel more like their efforts matter, and provides a better experience for everyone. We can generally tolerate delays much better than buggy releases.
You've also heard that some of our long time team members (like Gozer) are moving off to pursue other opportunities and we wish them all the best. While turn-over is common once titles ship, their impact on the game will be missed. ...

I wish them luck and all the best. Turnover is normal after a launch (as an IP shifts from initial development mode to ongoing development mode), so I'm not concerned about this.
Thanks to all the great feature ideas and bug reports that get posted in these threads. We have several team members combing through these replies (other than just myself) looking for hot topics and feedback. The concept of adding injury removal mini-games to your ship interior was a single example of player ideas in this thread turning into reality. So keep it coming!

Hell YES. Adding a level of interaction and purpose with ship interiors would be welcome by many of us. Making it an option instead of a requirement (you could always just burn a repair component, instead) means that those of us who don't want to do this don't have to. I'm looking forward to this, along with some more variety in our ship interiors.
The new items appearing on the list are related to our desire to work on the concept of "weekly episodes". We agree that the game could always use more mission content and instead of having to wait until Season 2 launches - we are considering releasing the episodes in this new Hub as a Series where there would be a new episode every week until the Series completed. Its an interesting and fun concept and we're going to go for it. If it turns out to be a hit, then you can be assured we'll continue this concept moving forward.

Whoa...just...whoa...

That sound is my mind being blown at how awesome this might be, if handled correctly. This kind of addition, if done with care, planning, and skill, could represent a major step in the evolution of MMOGs, and cement STO as not just an MMOG, but a pioneer. It could also be really, really, fun, and fits very well with the TV structure of the Star Trek IP itself. So many possibilities...one offs, multi-parters, season ending cliff-hangers, recurring characters (allies and enemies), ongoing story arcs...

This is something Cryptic will have to approach with a great deal of care. Cryptic, you will need to make sure you have a core group of writers, who essentially generate "scripts" for these "episodes", and that you have members of your staff who keep things consistent for any ongoing plot themes. Threat this concept less like a game, and more like a TV series, and you will have a winner here.

Anyways, that's my 2 credits.
