To those people offering "stuff" for referrals...

Personally,

I think it's awesome! This is the most positive community involvement I have seen in a long time. I think it's great people are trying to get others involved in STO at a time when we really need to generate more interest and gain new players.

And for those of you who are pooing on their parade....

Shame on you.

I'm willing to give something to anyone who lets me refer them (must be reasonable)

    I want my AGT galaxy.

But it is refreshing to see a positive attitude on these forums.

Not only celebrating selling off special powers in game but celebrating clogging the forums and in-game chat with shilling... this makes me ill.

The only one of these things I can bring myself to not be utterly disgusted by is Leviathan99's because it involves the creation of art.

    You are not alone.
This is a sad day in my opinion.
To see the STO Discussion forum turned into this TRIBBLE.

    This.

I cheer for the people who refered friends BEFORE they got something for it. They invited friends for the one thing money can't buy: to enjoy the good sides of the games with others.

These are the players who would have deserved a "thank you" reward. Refering the game because they like it, not because of the profit of an ingame item. And all rewards should be cosmetic gimmiks, not a Tier 5.5 ship while the rest of the paying customers is stuck at Tier 5 and waiting for months.

Sorry, I cann't share your feelings while energy credits are sold for real money in the official forum of a MMO. And what's even more worse than this: It is officially approved to be legal by a GM because the trade in these cases grant them more profit than ever expected with this insane referral program.

    It makes me sick.

Personally I find all this much ado about nothing. I didn't want the Gal-X to be exclusive to the RAF but now that we have no choice might was well accept it. As for the posts on the forum, I think it is a dry hole honestly. Yet, let them try. I really doesn't hurt anyone. IF they are successful then cool, if not, no biggy.

Uh, off topic, but last I checked, the "Star Trek Fanbase" doesn't unanimously share that opinion. I certainly don't. Might want to edit that.

Yeah i would love to get that ship. Thinking myself of offering 700.000 credits to players that will subscribe so that i will get the ship. I hope they will put it in c-store. Well really it should be free for all but :( I can understand the meaning behind it.

other than the boards being spammed with these referrals i could not care less. it does not impact my gaming play or my life in anyway what other people do.
i would just prefer there was a different section to put them all in so i dont have to wade through them all

If you are offering energy credits for referrals. You better not hand it all over till their free month is up. I plan on seeing people start to complaining about giving energy credits to people for signing and then not subscribing.

    Sadly, this.

They dangle the silly carrot of a fed ship design in front of subscribers in order for them to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to scramble and get them more subscribers. Bribery and exploitation commonplace, integrity out the window.

From the top down, nobody seems to care what kind of damage this does long term, because nobody in this company has thought "long term" from day one.

I can only imagine how annoying this must be in game. My heart truly goes out to those of you who care about your MMO community.
