If you havent read the latest engineering report, we will soon be getting a new episode each week, and these episodes will have overall story arcs and possibly even make up seasons. This is some of the best news I've heard for STO in a while
These episodes will involve auto sidekicking and be available to characters of any level as well, right?
That's the part that has me excited as it presents not just something new for my admiral but something for my alts as well.
The neat part is that you could theoretically level an alt exclusively using the new weekly missions... and that they will be cross-faction, giving Klingons the option to level in arc based play.

It sounds like a good feature but I'll believe it when I see it.
will the new episodes stay in the game after the week though or be replaced is what id like to know
I'm sure they'll stay in the game. It wouldn't make much sense for them to put so much work into creating these episodes only to delete them after a week of "air time".
I'm also really excited about this idea. I think it's going to be a hit if they can pull it off right.
Theres alot of other things that have got me excited about upcoming updates. Particularly with Season 2.0

No offense meant to you t all, but the thought that Cryptic would spend Dev time on content that would only last a week made me laugh. It actually sounds like something they might try

It could be like real TV. Episodes go into a rotation each week. After the premier. It goes into reruns. Then a hiatus lasting several months. They could be prempted for specials. Or reschedules later in teh week.

Well, considering the fact that their already working on episode replay, I'm sure these new ones will work the same way. There will probably be some cooldown between the time you can do the same mission back to back, but I guess we'll see soon enough.

Though the tendency to stick stuff on itunes and/or hulu after showing is changing even that model.

They might have the weekly missions as free for those actively subscribed then put them up on the c-store if you weren't subscribed during their intial run.

I somehow managed to miss that when I read the report. You're absolutely right though. It is something to get excited about.:)

Of course, this is the devil talking.
That would be hilariously awful.
Though forgivable if you can pass 'bootlegged recordings' to groupmates

I wonder if the episodes will consist primarily of scanning 5 things, or shooting people, or destroying 3-5 waves of ships.
I also wonder if these will be open missions, or if they will be exclusive to people at level cap.
I won't hold my breath. I'm still just a Captain. Churning out 10-30minutes of content each week... we'll see how great it is in the end, or if this announcement ends up being akin to the genesis engine.
What? A new episode weekly? Crazy talk, methinks. That'll never work.
Seriously, that'll be awesome if they can put together a storyline, and incorporate a little bit of it each week. Indeed, would be like watching the series. And hey, between Seasons, the cliffhangers! Something else to look forward to with each new Season, the continuation!
I'm pretty excited too, they definitly won't be just "Scan 5 things" missions. Cryptic has some bad exploration content but at least give them that the episodes are fun.

Season 2, so far, is looking ace. Keep up the good work Devs.
yes these are new episodes that will stay
Between you and me and the voices it's getting awfully crowded in here.
The first episode is going to be akin to TNG "The Inner Light."
At least that's what the voices told me.

Shady Ferengi: Pssst, hey, Starfleet. Wanna buy a trip to Melchor V? Hot off the transport...only 3 bars of gold-pressed latinum.

Im very excited about this too! It is a great Idea to keep people involved with the game and continue to come back for more.
sorry
Now we just need that guy who said "Set Phasers to Fun!"

Now how do I set my TiVo for it... >.>
I have to give this a QFT.
