how amazing is the galaxy-x? i know it's just a tier 5 galaxy class with a third naculles, but really apart from looks what else does it have?
can it stealth like in the show? does it have a super iwin cannon on the front that can rip thru a negh var with full sheilds in 1 shot?
is it the fastest ship in the game?
apart from looks, what makes the galaxy class so special? and can anybody provide a link/proof of this total awesomeness?

It will have something. But that something will not work like it worked on the show. No one-shotting Neg'Vahrs. We all know that isn't going to happen.
is it the fastest ship in the game?
No clue. We've not been given that info. However, game mechanics being what they are ... it is not likely that a Cruiser will be the speed king of the fleet.

so people are super cranky about it being a friend referal only item and practically shoving friend referals at everybody they can because?
I don't think it is going to be anything special as far as being more or less powerful then anything else in the game. I think some people want it just because they do. They thought that it was nice when they saw it in the movie that one time. I personally don't think the ship is worth all the hype it has been given but I cannot speak for anyone else on whether they feel it is or not.
That is on a person to person basis. One person trash is another person treasure.

Because people would rather it be something they could just buy. They want the easy path. Not the difficult one. For some folks it really is an offense to them that the only way they can get this reward is to have to shill or push the game onto other people. And if someone who feels that way also really likes the look of this ship and really liked that episode, they are going to be very very upset in what they have to say about this program.
Even if it is good. When some players actually get it. It wont be good all that long. Because at some point we are getting level increases. It's a T5 ship.
If someone tries to PVP in that ship every Klingon in that instance. Will just kill that player repeatedly. That ship will be the most favorite target the Klingons will ever get.

i'm hoping some one who WANTS the ship so baddly will post and explain why this ship is so amazingly desired, to me it just seems like an overly glorified target (i fly klingon, all fed ships = target practice to me )

but if it's a c-store item they'd still have to shill for it, so what's the difference? >_>;

Because people like to be super-cranky.
In our current society everyone wants everything now, and they want it easily gotten. The sense of self-entitlement people have now, compared to even a decade ago, is staggering. The internet has made people faceless and reckless and allows them to live without consequences or meaningful repercussions for their internet actions. Behind the mask of an internet ID we can whine like our 5 year-olds, scream like a banshee, and attack others without fear. The internet shows the true, petty nature of mankind that we keep hidden from each other in face-to-face contact.

The difference is how much easier it is to just buy it outright.
There are some people who love the look of this ship. And that's their thing. So their desire for this ship is so powerful that they really want it. But they look at the means they have been given to get it, and don't want to do it. It's a lot of work to get 5 people to stick with a game for a month. That's putting a lot of pressure on friends.
They'd much rather take the easier option of giving Cryptic real money for C-Points and buying it.
I can see where they're coming from. But I can't really agree with them, because the whole point of the program is to give a special reward to those who really go above and beyond. So for me, this heightened tension and all these people talking about how much they want this ship ... only tells me that Cryptic chose their reward well. This is something a lot of people want. So it is a really good motivator for the program.
But the complaints are the other side of the coin.

that makes me feel special, i'm glad i portray myself off to be an animal instead of a human-being, it helps me to detact myself from the short comings of humanity and act like i believe i should act, weither it be in public or over the internet (yes i do act like i do in game/on the forums the same as i do irl... except irl i wear a panda hoodie instead having a dp of a panda >_> )
Some people really like the ship, some people want it for the special equipment its going to have like the phaser lance and the possible cloaking device.
As for myself, I want the ship because it fits into the background I've created for my main character. Whatever else it might come with is a plus.

I'd love to know these things too, so far all i've seen are some generalities relating to what we saw on the shows and one pic which has now been removed from the RAF page. we've also gotten absolutely no info or pics for the boff or tribble from cryptic.
This is stuff i need to see before i do anything. I've got a referral lined up but the balls on cryptics side of the court as to whether or not i actually go ahead with it.
Me thinks someone completely missed the number of threads and post of people wanting an alternative way to "earn" the Galaxy-X.
actually it's the number of threads concerning this that made me ask "why should i, a player who plays mainly klingon and think the ship looks stupid, worry about refering friends? >_>;

That's the one thing we can confirm. How this item works, what it does and the way in which it is attached to the ship is all speculation. BUT, devs have commented that the ship will have something there ... this phaser lance thing.
It's really amazing how Cryptic is wasting time and money on every little gimmick they can think of. They seem to be commited to doing everything except making a good Star Trek game. Hey! how about you give us something worthwhile, like, getting rid of all this sector/system space TRIBBLE and just give us space to travel in. Or how about getting rid of all those load screens. Or maybe turn this game into an actual MMO, instead of this arcade style single player game with console style multiplayer maps.. Here's another one. Get rid of those 11x11 foot rooms you call ground missions and give us an actual planet to explore. As far as I can tell Atari/Cryptic is the Milli Vanilli of online game companies
It does indeed have the Phaser Lance Dstahl confirmed that much. The Phaser Lance is one of the fan names for the super-phaser cannon that its got equipped on it. It's the cloaking device that hasn't been confirmed yet.

okie dokie, so it looks like we're worrying about a cannon with a 45 degree firing arc, does about the same ammount of dmg as a heavy cannon, has a long cool down time, and most possible shuts down weapon systems for a short time leaving you floating in the water? =/
hmmm... seems fair enough... if only i could get something like it klingon side D=

I despise its existence as a mechanically (rather than cosmetically) unique endgame item that is being sold off, whether through a 'hard' or 'easy' sell.

How did you possibly come to that interpretation from the linked statment?
The Galaxy-X is coming with a cannon and and out of battle cloak.
'Oh blah blah not confirmed'
The Galaxy-X was known for TWO distinct features
1: Cannon
2: Cloak
Since Cryptic want to inspire the maximum amount of allure for their program, what better way to do so that have the this ship cloak as well. The only Federation ship to cloak, available to you for $200.
As for the rest of the stats, we will see because this thing is meant to be part of the new generation of T5s meant for higher levels. Thus if this thing is meant to compete with that generation its going to have stats of that generation I.E better than existing T5s.
Additionally, the future features its going to get could potentially include Saucer Seperation as per the statement they were looking into adding this ability ingame.
Is the ship actually worth it ?
Personnaly no.
I'm a Escort pilot so I have no reason to go for this stupid thing but regardless of that this offer sets a precedent of what Cryptic will do to fleece their playerbase.
Infact, take a good look, people ask for races - they have to PAY for them via the C-store
Players ask for canon ships - Galaxy-X is now in the Referal program
Thus, ask for something and Cryptic use it to fleece their players.
Next stop:
Get 10 LTS and earn a Federation battle cloak complete.

It has a unique one of a kind weapon. it's not just a phaser or cannon, it can shoot through objects and hit enemies in a cone attack (think of the ground Split Beam guns hitting multiple targets in front of you in space). As you said, it's not offered for Klingon's, so in PvP this ship will have advantages others won't and Klingon's definitely won't have. In PvP if you're getting shot up, you can try and move behind a asteroid or a starbase to be protected by the line of sight of the ships firing at you. This ship has a game changing effect that will allow it to shoot through those cover objects and still hit you, while you won't be able to hit back if you don't have the same ship. Add on top of that, it might (key word might) also get a cloaking device, then this ship upsets the balance they created in Space PvP.
I wouldn't normally care about them having a unique item as a referral reward, that's to be expected and rightfully so. But in typical Cryptic fashion they didn't think this item through well enough and rushed it out with their created in 5 minutes referral plan. My issues with the item are 1. As described it already effects PvP game play and is only available for 1 of those PvP factions. And 2. they're encouraging players to spam their personal advertisements in game and on the forums where it is becoming annoying and in some cases harassment (like getting multiple spam /tells because you're playing in the tutorial). If they made the ship PvE only and enforced their rules on spamming I personally would be peachy with their plan.

We have no way of knowing how it'll work yet because we've only heard very briefly about it. So we don't know how 'game changing' it will be if at all. It may be able to fire through enemies but not static objects because of the way targeting works in the game. There also might be other downsides to using the weapon or other disadvantages that balance it out.
For example: It may have the cannon and the battle cloak but all its other stats might be equal to a T4 ship even though its a T5 which balances out some of its abilities by making it less tough and slightly less versatile.

To be fair, dstahl did state that the ship designer who made the Galaxy X did at least some of it on his own time, I believe. So it was just a bonus.
