Yes I know im just a grunt. Very nice innitiative tho.
Gotta laugh along with this. You guys paying for our bandwidth or something?
Sides, ya might as well split the winnings now between us and D.O.B.
And yes, I'm as serious as your 10%.
Also, your rules are atrocious. Only two or each ship and class? Ridiculous
And with the length of some CnH games this would be better run on 5v5 straight PvP maps. I also agree the rules limiting ship types/captains is counter-intuitive to fair gameplay. If a team wants to gimp themselves with 5 escorts and no healers, fine. If a team wants to run all science vessels and gimp themselves with low DPS, fine. It's about trying to include as many players/teams/fleets as possible rather than exclude them. Let people play the ships/captains they want and have established. Some smaller fleets may not be able to participate based on who's on during those times and what ships they have available.

The 10% is a basic fee for tournaments when someone is hosting one and doing all the work, as for the rules they are basic and setup so that they are fair fights and balanced.
Just a question here. I read your post and I cannot see how you justify the 10%. It is not the money, money is so easy to come by int his game but what work are you doing here? I understand your restrictions but that does not sound fun at all?
If you ran a football tourney would you limit a team to just 2 wide receivers? Or Soccer, would you limit the team to just 2 strikers or midfield? Thats just silly man.
Warpanda, I understand what you are saying and with that in mind, it takes time and effort to run a tournament, let alone the time you have to take making sure the rules are followed, and you have to have people judge it. 10% is a fair and reasonable amount to Host and Run a Tournament. For example when you have the Super Bowl or any other type of tournament, do you think the Host does it for free. When it comes to the teaming rules, taking your example into consideration I have this for you, in Baseball you have 2 teams, each team fields 9 players, you wouldnt field 9 pitchers in each position, nor would you field 9 catchers in each position. You would run a well balanced team. So here we are going to have balanced teams for fairness. Anyone can field 5 Science officers in 5 Science ships and coontrol the entire tournament, we are not going to allow that, the matches are going to be fairly balanced.
Yes I understand that and before the patch I would say having more then 2 science ships was just nuts. However, now any team that ran 5 science would just be dead. I think the rule is more designed to make sure people are taking science ships seeing as now it is nearly pointless to run one. Still very doable, as we have some excellent and capable science officers. Still I just dont like restrictions because it limits the options of the teams that want to be creative. In regards to trying to create balance well sure. I appreciate the idea.
Ninja if you dont like the rules nor the way its being ran, then you certainly do not have to enter. The Tournament is setup and it is the way it is, you can either accept the terms or not. Its your choice.

You really think 5 sci officers and sci ships would overpower a team? I'd like to play against such a team just to prove you wrong. Your silly analogy of baseball pitchers is a poor comparison. Nothing's stopping that baseball team from fielding 9 pitchers, cept common sense. If a team wants to gimp themselves like that, I would let em. Except you seem to think the baseball team would fail and the STO team would dominate. Kinda contradictory for an analogy.
Also, the host in the Super Bowl also pays out the TRIBBLE, and charges just as much, to host the game. Who are you paying? And not too mention that the host city is chosen at the beginning of the season, so it's a coincidence if the home team is in the game. So, your own fleet is hosting, handling the cash, officiating, getting paid, and taking part in their own tournament. With a set of arbitrary rules you came up with off the top of your head. No conflict of interests here, I'm sure.
I don't even care about the 10% that much, cept for the fact that I don't think the hosts deserve it for such a poorly contrived tournament. Not too mention that STO isn't conceived of well enough to accommodate such a tournament.
Really, I applaud your fleet for taking initiative, but I see no reason to take part, for all the reasons I listed.
Well obviously I can see that some fleets dont have what it takes to particiapte in such a tournament, guess there not good enough. If you dont want to participate then dont, but you dont have to flame an event because you personally dont agree with the rules that are set. With that said all the power to you..
Flame fest aside, I think the 182nd would be down. Faithborn and I are the officers, so we'll have to work out the specifics.
Honestly, creds aren't an issue. I'll personally front 187 their 10% if that will allay the malcontents (though I won't get my hopes up).
Organized PvP events are a great way to keep things interesting. Though I do doubt that there are as many as 20 Fed fleets out there ready and willing to go on this one.
InBleedingRapture, thanks for the support, Faithborn had already asked me a few questions, and I sent him a pm. Hope to see you all on the registration station. We are hoping to get enough fleets, those that dont it's there loss.

But the tournament organizer (the NFL) takes a hefty cut of everything. I know. I spent time on a city's Super Bowl host committee. 187 isn't hosting a tournament, they're organizing it. Technically, Cryptic is hosting the tournament.
The 10% shouldn't bother anyone. I have yet to see a tournament with a purse not give a cut to the tournament organizer. Ever enter a poker tournament? Notice how the buy in is usually something like $50+$15? Any guesses as to where the $15 goes?
Tournament organization is more than, "LOLZ! I'm running a tourney, give me money." Time and effort goes into rules, format, scheduling, officiating, etc. Don't begrudge someone for wanting to be compensated for their time and effort. Or, if you think organizing and running a tournament should be done for free, then by all means feel free to do so.
As to 187 being in the tourney, that's a separate issue. And one I actually agree with in terms of there being a potential conflict.
IMO, give away a TSS3 officer for a prize, give away some old +30 consoles.....do something that will make peopel want to join the game, credits as a prize is lame. taking 10% pay for making a post is really lame. Restricting ship types is TRIBBLE, I can promise you that 5 science ships would go down faster than the servers of STO in the first week.
rethink your ideas, make a tourney that woud draw attention. this is just a sad attempt to get some easy credits out of playing PVP

Pax, thank you for your support, Im glad someone finally understands things lol, As to Fleet187 being in the touney, I wouldnt think there would be a conflict because, we are going to have non F187 people judge the matches that we are in.. However I would agree with you that it would be a conflict if we were going to allow ourselves to judge us hehe..

Akumarev, we will be giving prizes away to the members of the teams that win the tournament, however the prize money will go the teams fleet that they are representing...

I hope that's a typo or a joke.

Just sayin'...;)
Yes Faithborn 2 Alternates are allowed per team..
Ninja a 10% hosting fee is basic in any tournament..

No it's not.
You need to remove this if you want anyone to take it seriously.
There's no reason why you should collect 10% for anything lol.
If you want the money then make sure your guild wins.
