Please consider adding the Orion Syndicate as the next playable race after the Romulans.
And introduce player/fleet owned structures and sector space with Orions.
Two of the things this game is missing at the moment is player ownership and "engame" and this would fix both of them. .

The Orion syndicate was conquered by the Klingon empire. They ARE in the game already. As KDF.
There's no free Orion's running around either, like the french resistance during WWII. You're stuck with being thralls of Q'onos, but then again, Orions like being thralls.
That whole poll is a farce. I want playable Borg, but since the people who already have borg, are voting too. I have a chance in hell to ever play as a liberated borg. The outcome againt borg was already obvious.
If I read the story right, only the Orion Syndicate is allied with the KDF, not Orion as a whole. A syndicate faction would probably not make much sense, but there could be civilians that were not involved with the syndicate.
Klingon are and always have been hard core about this. Every Star Trek fan has asked why Star Trek: TOS Klingon look so different. Answer different it was part of failed DNA experiment to upgrade the race using Human Augment DNA. They were later hunted down and wiped out by a Klingon purest movement. They would never let a non Klingon faction become part of the Klingon Empire.

That's not canon, and canon strongly indicates that the Klingon Augment Virus spread through the whole population or almost all of it so it's not even plausible.
STO has its own mission that addresses the return of the ridges that is much more awesome and weaves in multiple dangling threads in canon.
they look different because make up budget was less
the original series was run on a shoe string- read somewhere that their uniforms were all shabby and falling apart
the next generation had a huge budget
And the new look came in The Motion Picture.
Yes, we all know it was just a Special Effects Failure. But one of the few good stories Enterprise ever told made how ridgeless Klingons came to be something plausible, and now STO (in an episode for which I am willing to forgive Gozer a thousand dull STFs, if he had stuck around to make them) has delivered an excellent story in how the Klingons got their Grooves Back.

Well ... the OP does suggest adding the Orion Syndicate as the playable faction.
And even though I do agree that some Orions may not be involved in this at all (some may even be in starfleet instead) ... for all intents and purposes, it's not really feasible for the Orions to be their own faction since for the storyline they were conquered by the Klingons as a means of getting them, the Nausicaans and the Letheans into the KDF.

As has been pointed out, the poll was for a FACTION, not a playable species.
And if preorder lifetimers were actually a big enough fraction of the people left around to vote to make up the >50% Romulans won by, tthe game has some problems.
